if a homeless person smelling of alcohol asked you for $ would you refuse?
Ahhhhh but what if he is really Jesus just posing as a homeless person testing your willingness to share the prosperity that He has bestowed upon you.....what then?

I probably would refuse to give him/her money, but I have offered to go to the store and buy some food, clothing, or whatever s/he was in need of, on more than one occasion.
If they were dead honest with me up-front and said they wanted the money for more alcohol - I MIGHT even be inclined to give them some cash, but probably not.
A friend of mine bought a guy a pack of smokes once - The guy said it was the first time he felt really loved by anyone in as long as he could remember. After that, the guy wanted to know why my friend was willing to buy him a pack of smokes, so my friend said "'Cause Jesus loves you!" - The guy started going to church with my friend and ended up giving his life to God (eventually, he even quit smoking).

I gave a begging homeless man some money on my way to the store and he came in afterward and grabbed a beer.I was a little upset, but I thought how else can a man cope with being alone on the street. Most homeless people are too mentally ill to work and the ones who work blow all their money on drugs and alchohol.I know because at 18 I ran away to another city to find myself like buddha. While there I worked at tempt Jobs and stayed in a homeless shelter with homeless people with all kinds of problems. They were very mentally disturbed and traumatized. After 2 months in the city I discoved a new age center called The Edgar Cacey Foundation center.I prayed and meditated everyday. After 6 months,I finally returned home as a brand new man with new morals. because where ever you run there you will be still in pain.I realized that you can't run from your painNow I live in a wonderful house that I share with a friend.I really felt bad for the people that were still out there on the streets. That was 5 years ago.I hope they are living well now.

Putting aside the idea that Jesus would be concerned with material wealth, (which we know he wouldn't) He wouldn't need to test us since he can see what is in our hearts.
If you gave money believing that was helping the poor, then he would know your intentions. If you refused to give because you believed the man would just use it to get more drunk, Jesus would understand as well.
As for myself, I live just outside of NYC and I have heard too many stories of ordinary people pretending to be homeless and panhandling money. I have seen so-called homeless people wearing designer sneakers that I couldn't afford.
I donate to local charities and shelters that serve food and provide a safe place to sleep. The real homeless people know where to go for help.
On the other hand there were times when I have been moved to give someone money and I always listen to these feelings.

I won't worship Jesus or any other human, so that doesn't matter to me at all. However, I don't give money to homeless people because I think it's dangerous. However, if I can carrying food with me, I will give a homeless person a sandwich or something else that I have. I give money to shelters where I know the money will be spent at least fairly wisely.

Yes if he was drunk as this wouldn't be Christ! bsides Jesus said "feed my sheep" not "give my sheep money".
Just throwing money to someone doesn't help you or them; but, taking them to eat shows them respect and also weeds out a lot of con artists...pretending to be poor. I travel all over the country and have had VERY few people that told me they were hungry take me up on an offer for actual food. Fortunately I have been able to help some that really needed it, though. I still spent the same amount of money; but, this way I also invested time with this person and thereby showed them respect and gave them food to eat. It's a great time to talk about Jesus, when someone is a guest at your table.
If I see someone eating or drinking (and I have) out of the trash I offer food and non-alchoholic drink before they have a chance to ask.
I hope this helps, Lord willing,

A person without shelter has no right to be judged because they are homeless, or because they are consuming alcohol. We have no idea of the suffering they have endured which brought them to the point in which they are at.
Everyone person in this country has a right to shelter, just as equally the right to consume alcohol at the age of 21.
YES, I will always help anyone in need by offering not only a few dollars, but a meal as well. Of course.

If Jesus is asking me for money, he's asking the wrong guy. What's the point of God entrapping people? He should be handing out money and helping others, not pretending to be a special agent of the FBI.

I would buy them something to eat or what they are asking for, not give them the money. Done that many times and it's amazing how many turn down the meal and just want the cash. Kinda shows that they aren't asking for it for the reason they said.

I don't give money to homeless people, they want money, they must work for it, I'll rather give money to a homeless person at a robot holding a packet for me to throw my rubbish away, he's at least doing something.

I would and I have. I always hope it's to get food but it most likely isn't, but just in case, I know that I've helped someone out who might use it for something good.
