Why do so many people type loose instead of lose?

I don't know how many times I have seen "How can I loose weight" or "I don't want to loose him". I know that there are errors and I am not saying I don't make them. I just find it strange that this word keeps showing up so much on here. Anyone else notice it?

Many words are routinely misspelled. Partly demonstrates the poor english typically practiced in the US. Also, people really rely on spell checkers. Also, some posters are not original english speakers.

For the same reason they confuse "your" with "you're"-- they didn't pay attention in English class when they were in school.

Granted, English class was usually pretty boring until I got to read Romeo & Juliet with my 9th grade crush, but still... you'd think somehow that correct grammar might seep in with the masses.

Ultimately, society doesn't admonish them for incorrect usage, and there are few, if any, rewards for doing things right.

Don't get me started on email's & chatrooms' effects on grammar. Absolutely abhorrent.
