What can I send to school for a lunch for my son?

So far in his class there are children with sever allergies to: nuts, milk, eggs, lecithin and citrius. They have epi pens therefore any foods containing them are not allowed. My son is in grade 2 and needs to have some sort of lunch (he's very active in sports and things) but I'm running out of ideas.

Any help would be appreciated.

By the way does anyone else think that instead of telling us what we can't pack in their lunches the school should be providing us a list of what can go in...or be providing lunch for the kids. Just a thought

Update:

Apparently the reason for the outright ban is that some of these kids can react if they even touch the stuff...which if I was their parent I would want a ban as well...but as a parent of a kid without allergies I'd like to be able to put mayo (eggs) on a sandwich (and not have to worry about what bread we buy) and let him have an orange for desert (which he loves)...but alas vegie sticks (with no dip) seems to be all that is left.

Why is there a total ban on these foods? My daughter is in first grade and has a diabetic and someone with a severe nut allergy (he has an epipen too) in her class. They only ask that we take that into consideration when sending snacks for the whole class. And if someone does bring a snack these children can't have, the teacher always has an alternative.

After looking at your list of restrictions, I can not come up one one decent lunch. I would talk with the school. If your child is not going to share, what is the big deal? And you are right, they should put together a list of ideas of what can be brought to school.

    Good Luck!

I can see the reason in a "no-share" policy and perhaps a ban on nuts (dust) but to outright ban others from bringing an orange or an egg-salad sandwhich seems a bit restrictive...

How about cold mac-n-cheese mixed with frozen peas or bits of chopped ham/cut up hotdogs - my pre-schoolers love this in their lunch.

I usually buy whole grain bread, spread soy mayo on one side of each slice, slice up some white onions, lettuce, buy some sliced chicken breast meat, or turkey breast, slice up some avocado and eat it! It's delicious because I really pile on the ingredients. My friend who is a picker eater gave it a taste and immediately gave me a thumbs up! I usually pair this with a nice glass of Newman's own pink lemonade as well.

You can also make this: Buy chicken strips (the expensive kind, not the cheap kind with the really bad quality processed chicken meat) Place those on a submarine bun, or any crusty buns (big ones) and then add lettice tomatoes, black olives, and drizzle peppercorn caesar ranch sauce on top! Enjoy!

also: italian panini buns, butter, peppercorn pate spread on each side of bun, add mortadella meat, clinatro and TA-DA a very good tasting sandwich, if u like the taste of cilantro.

Make sure he isn't sharing his lunch and pack him a peanut butter and banana sandwich. Carrots and pudding are also good. There are many great cookbooks that give ideas for kids lunches.

Turkey on a tortilla, apples, carrot sticks, and soy milk (get vanilla or chocolate so that he'll drink it)

the school should keep out of your lunch instead the parents should teach their children what they can and can't eat
