Q about Temple animal sacrifice...?
There is a recent Q <http://answers.yahoo.com/question/;_ylt=Ajow1Di5TS... (still open) about Jewish sacrifice. There are several (4 so far) answers which respond with a Christian theology that Jesus' sacrifice was The Sacrifice "to end all [temple] sacrifices." But no one gave a Scripture reference as a "Source" for that ~fact.~
In context of the following instructions & warnings from the Bible...
Matthew 24:4
Acts 17:10-11
2 Thessalonians 2:3
1 Thessalonians 5:21
...Where is the Scriptural prophesy/fulfillment that temple sacrifice ended with The Crucifixion? Won't faithful FOLLOWERS of the Messiah (grafted into the root of Israel) be lining up to sacrifice when the Temple is restored (rebuilt or delivered)? (There is NT verification that the Apostle Paul stayed true to the faith of his Jewish fathers, believing all of the Law & Prophets [Acts 24:14-16] AND that he made Temple sacrifice [Acts 21:24 & 26; cf Numbers 6:13-21]).
The instructions & warnings from the Bible are:
• "Take heed that no man deceive you" [Matthew 24:4]
• the Bereans who checked the Scripture to make sure the teaching they were getting were valid [Acts 17:10-11]
• "Let no man deceive you by any means; for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition" [ 2 Thessalonians 2:3]
• "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good" [1 Thessalonians 5:21]
airborne_lt - What I am trying to resolve is that Paul, who had been Divinely Tutored for years, would have still been professing the Law & making sacrifice offerings in the Temple. If it was divinely planned to stop with the Crucifixion... why did it take so long for believers to find out about it (why did they wait for the Temple to be desctroyed)?
We are also warned that ~human wisdom~ is "folly" in the sight of God. [Many OT refs + 1 Corinthians 1:20; 1 Corinthians 1:25; 1 Corinthians 2:14] That is why I am looking for the 'Berean proof' to believe what we are being taught.
Mainworry - "One sacrifice for sins for ever." But was Apostle Paul the Apostate Paul for continuing Temple sacrifice?!

Sin offerings were only one kind of sacrifice done in the temple..that part Jesus did away with..they had thanksgiving offerings, etc. The main purpose for the sacrifices was to "draw near" to God, to offer something perfect, of value to the person to show that God was more important than what was being offered..most offerings were also eaten after they were "cooked" on the fire, so it was also a time of fellowship with God, and with other people....when jesus returns, this time of fellowship and "cook-outs" will be part of the celebration at the temple...

You wanted scriptural reference concerning Jesus being the final sacrifice. Consider:
Hebrews 9:26
For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
Jesus came to offer Himself to put away sin.

Priests’ sacrifices can never take away sins (Heb.10:11, Heb.13:9 below).
Jesus offered one sacrifice for sins FOR EVER. By His one offering He perfected for ever those that are sanctified.
The Lord puts His laws into our hearts and into our minds.
Our sins and iniquities are remembered NO MORE (Heb.10:12, 14, 16-17 below).
Heb.10:11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
Heb.10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever (Heb.10:14 below), sat down on the right hand of God;
Heb,10:14 For by one offering he hath PERFECTED FOR EVER (Heb.10:12 above, Matt.5:48) THEM THAT ARE SANCTIFIED.
Heb.10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them (Heb.8:11);
Heb.10:17 And THEIR SINS AND INIQUITIES WILL I REMEMBER NO MORE (Heb.8:12).
Heb.13:9Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines, For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein (Heb.10:11, above).

Heb.10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
One sacrifice for sins for ever.
Hos.6:6 For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.
For I desired (mercy, loving kindness), and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of (God, His Word) more than burnt offerings.

There will be at least one more sacrifice - the one that God prepares:
Zep 1:7 Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord GOD: for the day of the LORD [is] at hand: for the LORD hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his guests.
Zep 1:8 And it shall come to pass in the day of the LORD'S sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king's children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.
And again in Daniel, there is refernce to sacrafice being performed during the tribulation:
Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make [it] desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
God also asks us to present our bodies as a sacrifice:
Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service.
Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Rom 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think [of himself] more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Rom 12:4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
Rom 12:5 So we, [being] many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
We are directed how to give sacrifice
Hbr 13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of [our] lips giving thanks to his name.
The ultimate sacrafice was Jesus - he redeemed us with his sacrifice:
Hbr 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
So will there be more sacrifice - yes, from us in a different manner than sacrificing our prize lamb, from the Jews when the temple is rebuilt and the sacrifice resumes, and from God, when He punishes the world and brings His sacrifice.

I know in the episcopal church we offer up our tithes as sacrifice on the alter. So instead of giving up an animal we grow on a farm, we don't raise animals anymore so we give up a portion of our weekly pay check and if the church wants to buy animals a kill them for God, well, they can do that...

The temple is acctually Jesus. I do not know anyone who sacrifices animals.
