Why cant people ask a question in the right category?

I have answered a few questions tonight in the Yahoo Products category that had nothing to do with Yahoo Products whatsoever, what have "Babysitter for my boys?" and "equipment for digging ditches?" got to do with Yahoo products??

It's no wonder a lot of questions sit there unanswered.

Yes I realize they are probably new but just how hard is it to pick a category when you ask a question?

Update:

LoL @ the i like to eat boogers question in Dining out

and yeah Answers "I want an answer so I'll put it there" I thought that too

I know how you feel. I hate it too. When I ever see a question like that, I go answer it & tell the user that the question would go better in another category.

There is a rule in the Community Guidlines that the Y! Answers Team really hasn't been enforcing. Usage Rules #5: http://answers.yahoo.com/info/community_guidelines I say we need to call the Y! A Team on this. They can do so much better things with their time instead of violating so called "polling questions". The frequently asked questions problem still hasn't been fully resolved yet. The Y! A Team also needs to get cracking on this. We really need a FAQ's page.

It is annoying. Yahoo Answers checks to see if the question has been asked before, and shows the questions that it thinks matches to the asker's question. That doesn't seem to work, because I see "How do I remove search items ..." all the frigging time. They display all the categories for the asker to use, and somehow the asker can't get that right.

It might be a radical thought, but perhaps level 1 users should have 50 points charged for every question (or be allowed to only ask one in a week). It's getting ridiculous.

LOL maybe some people think that the category of yahoo answers is where you get them. LOL It sounds like a smart reply but you never know. I answered one in answers that said "does the type of soil matter when planting crops" or something like that.

Its a little frustrating I know.

Maybe there should be an option were there's a change category button and when 2 or 3 people hit it, it moves to a different category. Hmmm not bad!!!

Some people just aren't too bright. A few cards short of a full deck, one egg short of a dozen, you know what I mean.

SO TRUE, don't have an answer though, but wanted to give my support! Don't go to the "dining out" board.

Maybe they're in a rush! or maybe they do it to annoy people! if it's the latter, it certainly works! i try my best to put things in the right categories..

It's a known fact that the internet makes certain people stupid for no real reason.
