What's the best way to wash a bra?
I'm looking for a seasoned-bra-washing-verteran to give me a tip or two on this. I have 4 bras I need to wash - obviously I'm not going to put them in the washer. My previous method is washing them in the sink with a little laundry soap, but I never seem to be able to get the soap OUT! Am I doing it wrong? Is there a better way?
Great suggestions so far - but - I live in an apartment, and th washer is 1.75 per load (i think you can see my point, here.) - would the pillow case idea work if I pinned it shut with the bras inside, and still had other clothes in the washer?

You can put your bras in the washer, put them in a pillowcase and on a delicate cycle. You can put them in the dryer still in the pillowcase on a low setting or air dry them. keep in mind if you have reds or any other colors that bleed to wash separately to insure your white stay white and your colors stay colored. Hope that this helps

One important thing if you put the bra in the machine (even in a pillow case) is to hook it. I've destroyed otherwise good bras because the hooks get caught in other clothes or in the straps and the torque of the washing machine tears out the hooks or straightens them. No matter how I try, I can't sew new hooks on by hand as tight as the manufacturer does.
If you use the sink, don't use laundry soap. Use Woolite or something that doesn't cause so much soap. And you need to rinse several times. Put the bra flat on the bottom of the sink and use the hand sprayer and you'll see soap keep coming out.
You can also bring in the shower with you and wash them with your favorite shower gel.

You can put them in a washer. Just use a gentle cycle and wash them alone if you are worried about them not lasting. Don't use bleach. When I wash my wife and kids' bras, I just throw them in the underwear load.
If they are silk or a fine washable, you will want woolite on the gentle cycle. I would put the machine on large load, but only put bras in so they don't get tangled with clothing.
