Studies show that there is a genetic basis for fraternal twinning—that is, non-identical twins do run in families. However, it is only the female that has any influence on the chances of having fraternal twins as the male cannot make her release more than one ovum. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Identical_twin

Because fraternal twins happen by mom releasing two eggs, the dad’s side of the family doesn’t come into play. (Well, at least not until his daughters have kids…) http://www.thetech.org/genetics/ask.php?id=86

To my knowledge you have a greater chance of having twins if your husband has the gene. Which it sounds like he does. I actually knew a guy that was married 3 times and each time he managed to make either twins or triplets. I believe the father has the dominant gene. Good Luck! I dont have a link I just went through a school that was for fertility treatment, so i could work in the office. Again good luck and have fun trying ;)

the "twin" genes is only passed from the mothers side of the family and tends to follow a pattern such as skipping a generation etc. It doesn't matter what the fathers side of the family was in this particular case.

Your husbands kin has no longer something to do with you conceiving twins. Twins artwork through one egg splitting in 2 (same) or through you liberating 2 eggs at ovulation. The husband basically fetrilizes the eggs. i does no longer imagine you had any higher possibilities of conceiving twins than does the different individual.
