What is your definition of "GOD"? I would only like to hear from agnostics and non-believers.?

I am asking this because I want to hear others opinions and that I also ran across this question asked by "shamandamandicandi" who, understandably, ask's only firm believers to answer. My beliefs are opposite of Shaman.., as I am more of a non-believer with barely a hint of agnosticism but have similar curiosity as Shaman..

In my opinion, it makes absolutely no sense that there is a physical, sentient god who looks down upon the universe and causes (or doesn't cause) things to happen. I mean, come on...how silly.

God is like gravity. It is a force, a physical law, something that can be explained by mathematics, geometry and physics.

God is the yet undiscovered Grand Unifying Theory of the Universe.

Think about it: Centuries ago we had a god for why the sun shined, a god for why the corn grew and a god for why rain fell. Well...now we know why the sun shines, why the corn grows and why it rains, and we think of the people who had all the silly-little gods for all these silly-little things as ignorant ancients.

So why do we still have god? Because we don't know why and how we (we meaning the universe) got here. Soon enough, science will figure that out too, and we can do away with god altogether.

You have to agree...how can you not? Nothing else makes sense!

Well I dont believe there is a God or a Devil,I do not think that anything is all powerful and knowing, but who really cares just live with what you have,a life and make it the best you can,and if I am wrong oh well I will be very warm when I burn, but I feel I will be put in the cold hard ground to fertilize plants for the next generation.

God is a construct that people created to answer questions that they could not. The Neolithic human cried over why his partner had to die. Before too long, he created a place where his dead friend had gone and a godhead to greet him there. God is amorphous and is molded by myriad cultures to suit their needs. God is used by unscrupulous leaders as a tool to control others. There is no proof in science of any god or miraculous event. If there is any such thing, it’s shrouded in mystery. Only the believer can see it. The only proof occurs when someone dies. The mystery is then either answered or the only answer is blackness and silence for the human who has fooled himself - the machine turned off into darkness.

To begin with, my beliefs about religion can be summed up like this: I don't know if there is a god, but I don't really care either.

I think God is a human invention to manipulate people. In the name of God they induce you to accept things you could have changed, because "God wanted it so" (e.g.: fight an illness). If you're a non-believer, you're told you're talking in the name of the Devil, and they dismiss you for that. If you're tempted to do something religions don't accept, they make you feel guilty for that (especially, when it comes to sex: pre-marital sex, homosexuality, mastrbation, and so on). They blackmail you into a particular way of living, so you're not damned. They train you to accept things without discussing, and then they use that training to keep you from discussing about other more important things (like politics, for instance, but also, censorship, like the one you have at Yahoo Q&A, if you try to type a so-called "dirty" word. Or a not so dirty one. "Mastrbation" is not a typing mistake, here).

This is a pretty deep question. Before I answer, I want you to know that I strongly value both sides of the spectrum. - I think that God could have been started as a belief (in the biblical times) in order to bring some kind of order to the chaos. People probably wouldn't listen to common law, so they needed a higher power. It is a possibility.

God is concept developed to explain things early man couldn't understand, like the sun, the stars, and death. Of course, modern science has answered these and other questions, so the only logical belief is Humanism.

I'm not sure if you can define God without believing in him since it varies from person to person. Not having a firm grasp of who God is myself, I'm better able to understand God from different perspectives. In my own life, however, God is just nature at work. I can't give a definition better than that.

i'm getting the psychology of why they trust yet no longer the rational so no. i do not go searching and spot the author. I see nature in common words. they can cite the butterfly, kittens, new child little ones, sunsets, and rainbows yet they seem to miss the butterfly demise interior the spider internet, little ones who're born with terrible beginning defects or ailments, the thoroughly organic motives we've for a way this stuff paintings. they ought to motel to introducing a clean fictional personality with out information for such issues as beginning defects, sickness, "evil" even as technological understanding delivers logical motives supported by ability of information. they in common words argument they have in any respect that i ought to at one time style of see is the beginning of the universe. the authentic answer nonetheless is in basic terms we do not understand. A naturalistic clarification is extra possibly to me in basic terms as a naturalistic clarification replaced our conception demons led to epilepsy, Zeus threw lightening, sin led to ailment, etc.... i look on the very foundation of the predator/prey gadget the international is depending upon and common sense precludes the style of god maximum each and all of us is peddling at any price.

Either an imaginary being to blame for things that you can't explain, or concentrated energy, which explains how God's creation of the universe and the Big Bang can be one and the same.
