Do you surprise (scare) yourself sometimes when you say something to your kids, then think was that me or my mum/dad speaking?

Uh yea I think majority of us do..good or bad! I tell my kids all the time the "because I said so" line. lol..I used to get sooo mad when my parents said that to me!!! That's probably the worst thing I say the most. I really try to catch myself..considering I didn't want my kids growing up like I did. How about you??

Uh huh. The other day I was in the kitchen making dinner and my 19 month old son was fiddling around at the computer and I said to him "Stop that! I'm not going to tell you again!!" I used to hate it when my Mum said that! It's such a ridiculous thing to say, I know whenever it was said to me my reply was "Fine, if you're not going to tell me again, I'll keep doing it". I can't believe I actually said it to my son!

It started when I was a youth leader. One of the kids tried to walk on the electrified tracks at Disneyland. I grabbed his arm, and then everything my mother ever said just fell out of my mouth. When I realized that, I got mad that the kid did something so dangerous that I "channeled" my mother. It is funny now!

    Everybody does to some extent.

If they are positive statements, be glad that your

    parents taught you something good.

If you think they're negative, make an effort to

    change...

    Good luck.

No. My mother was fairly strict and I wasn't, so it just seldom happened. One time I did say "because I told you so, that's why." So far as I can remember that's the only time it happened.
