Did Jesus the Carpenter make really good woodcraft?

Considering He was a carpenter, and He was Jesus, do you suppose He was very gifted at making tables, chairs, doors, window frames and so on? For the first 30 years of his life he did more than just teach, I'm just wondering how talented he was in areas other than religion.

Good thought...according to a very strong legend in England, Jesus was supposed to have visited or stayed there during the silent years. The "isles" are sometimes mentioned in scripture. There is an ancient beautiful church there that carries the tradition that he helped build it...

According to archeological eveidence, there are remains of a city called Sepphoris , 4 miles from Nazareth, which has proven to be very metropolitan for the times. Herod Antipas chose this city as his capital. There were alot of elaborate building projects and Joseph and Jesus were probably employed there. Also the greek word we use for carpenter actaully translates as "artisan," which has a broader meaning. Jesus may have been involved in stone work , masonary woodwork, and other types of construction.

It's not known: The Greek word used to describe Jesus and Joseph was "Tekton" meaning "Builder" which can of course mean carpenter but it can also mean anything from construction laborer to contractor or architect. Further complicating matters is that the Aramaic equivalent for "Tekton" also can mean "Scholar" which given Jesus' probable background as a Pharisee is a likely read. The Medieval Church decided to use tekton to mean carpenter for financial reasons (there are a lot of carpenters).

I find the question kind of misleading. He was the stepson of a carpenter not a carpenter himself. the bible makes no claim that Jesus ever held a job at all. instead it indicates that he spent all time studying in preparation for his ministry. the gospels tell us that joseph took him away and "..cared for him". Jesus is Gods son not joseph's.

I'm very sorry and from my heart I mean no harm. hypethetically, yes, he would have been an excellent craftsman, the very best.

actually it is a misconception that he was a carpenter.

This comes from a poor translation of the Greek.

The true Greek word merely means one that works with thier hands. While it is very possible that he did some wood work, it is also very possible that he perhaps also built stone walls or other building trades.

If you are planning to start on your woodworking project, this isn't something you should use, it's something that you would be insane not to. Go here https://tr.im/LwCHb

Truth is, I've been a carpenter for almost 36 years, and I haven't found anything like this for less than 10's of thousands of dollars.

There is a psalm, or maybe a proverb, that describes in detail how a scrap of wood from a carpenter became an idol.

I think the bible might have said that Jesus was a Poor carpenter, or maybe that was St. Joesph
