Stresszyme?
Has anyone used stesszyme in their tanks before? I have coldwater goldfish tank that is cycling and constantly turning cloudy. I put some in to see if it would speed up the cycle. Has anyone had success using it?
I did a partial water change last night before I added the stresszyme. I also added some Bright n clear ( I don't think it works so may try Accuclear next time). When doing water changes I remove the filter cartridge and rinse it in treated water and then replace it. I usually change the filter every two weeks or so.
I have the Stresszyme-that has live bacteria that helps keep the gravel clean with bacteria and speeds up the cycling process. Not Stresscoat!
thanks for the helpful info Emmabell

I have used stresszyme before. For Cloudy water I now use Accu-Clear when I do a partial water change. Make sure you keep filter clean, but remember that the bacteria that build up in it also help to clean the water, so don't clean too hard, leave a little. I also use Aqua Safe as a chlorine remover.

You are on the right track. The problem with Stresszyme and all similar products is that it requires heat. It is an inactivated product, much like yeast, and it needs to be 76-77 degrees to kick in. An unheated goldfish tank will never kick in for the live bacteria. So none of the liquid products will be effective at reducing your cycle time.
However, there is a product that will work in coldwater, but it will take longer, BioZyme, it is a poweder ina little yellow container. It will kick in at 66 degrees in 14 days to work on your cycle. Much faster if its warmer.
For now, just feed minimally and do small water changes daily for 5 more days to keep the fish safe from ammonia ans nitrite. If you have more questions, message me.

hi
in answer to your question about stresszyme it is not used to clear your water it is used to keep your fish calm and to protect the anal fins it helps them to settle in their new environment after being moved to another tank or when they are in transit what i do with my water if it is cloudy i part change my water and put in tap safe it clears all chlorine and anything else that is in tap water i also use aquarium salt that also helps it also prevents any parasites that could affect your fish you can also get a water buffer that helps keep the water sparkling i hope this helps your problem you can also go to www.practicalfishkeeping or www.freshwatertropicalfishkeeping.com
