I swam competitively for 8 years on my local swim team.
Swimming alone doesnt do much damage to help you lose weight, but you do put on muscle mass underneath the fatty tissue.
If you really want to lose weight, your best bet is to combine swimming with something like running or biking.. or even doing the cardio machines at the gym a few times per week.
And it depends on your age or genes too.. my buddy always had a bit of a belly and no visible muscles right up until we graduated, now he's ripped like crazy and doing extremely well in NCAA swmming down in Ohio.
Again the secret is to do swimming in combination with other exercise.. hope this helps!

2 hours a day is an awful lot..with that amount of swimming you are prob building up muscle rather than actually losing weight..the key to losing weight with swimming is to swim for 30-40mins a day..and continue to watch what your eating!

I agree with the person who suggested the running. Swimming doesnt really make you lose to much fat. Watch what you eat and try running every morning for a couple months or so. I think you'll be suprised! : )

I read somewhere that the body keeps a layer of fat because the water is cold. You must be in really good shape, though.Keep on swinnin'!!
