I'm an unemployed broadcaster looking for work for the past nine months. Where can I find work?
I have been looking for work in broadcasting since September 2005. My expertise are in Broadcast Operations, Broadcast Management and Programming. All of the jobs I apply for I am either overqualified or underqualified. Finding the type of opportunity which is commensurate with one's credentials is like looking for a needle in a haystack. It is also very frustrating. I know eventually I will get my career back but I need to find something quick because my unemployment has run out and I have bills which need to be paid.
Also I want to rant against Human Resources. I haven't look for a job in over twenty years. I have never seen such callousness, insensitivity and utter disrespect as I have seen today in Human Resources departments. You ask a question and they don't give you any information. You send an e-mail inquiring about a timeline for filling the position, nobody will answer the e-mail. You leave a message, nobody will return the message. Why this sudden change?

Try Sinclair Broadcast Group:

I know what you mean about HR. Their job is to screen people out. I always do a little industrial espionage and try to make contact with the person who has the power to me. Send a letter and resume directly to that person. It makes a big difference.
