  • Looking for two radio programs from 1975 & 1976: "Fantasy Park: A Concert of the Mind" and "Fantasy Park II".?

I am searching for two syndicated radio program which was broadcast over 200 radio stations in the United States and possibly Canada during Memorial Day weekend in 1975 & 1976.

It was a 48-hour special, "Fantasy Park: A Concert of the Mind". This radio program fooled scores of people believing an actual concert of the greatest performers of rock and roll history were having a concert at an undisclosed venue in their city when in reality it was just a Studio Engineer mixing crowd noise, a concert hall effect, bootleg and live concert audio recordings of the artist introducing their songs. After the artist introduced the song, a studio recording or live recording of their material would be played. Some of the artists featured on this program were Elton John, The Beatles, and Emerson, Lake and Palmer. There was another program, "Fantasy Park II" which was broadcast the following year during the Memorial Day or Independence Day weekend.

I am searching for a clean broadcast copy of one or both of these syndicated radio programs. I have contacted the producer of these program and he discarded the master tapes. If you have a copy of either of these programs or know of a source which might have these programs please let me know. Thank you

  • If you were laid off due to fiscal mismanagement, would you re-apply for a job with that company?

Is there an "unwritten rule" which states you cannot work for a compny ever again once you have been laid-off?

I was laid-off in good standing not by market conditions, business mergers or acquisitions. I was laid-off due to blatant fiscal mismangement by senior management and the University for accumulating a $12-$18 million dollar deficit. I also blame and question the senior managers who reported to the General Manager for their indifference in this matter and for being afraid to ask "When are we going to balance our books."

A new General Managaer has been hired to right the ship and the organization is now tossing nickels around like manhole covers. The organization is hiring and has hired new personnel but they have not contacted or want to consider those who were laid-off.

I have been applying for work in other places but I cannot understand why the company would lay-off 15 of us and then hire other people? There must be a hidden agenda or back-story to this.

  • If you are unemployed, you find the right job but don't care for the location, do you apply for the position?

I am an unemployed broadcaster wallowing in credit debt. I have applied for jobs but I am waiting for the Human Resources/decision-makers to make up their minds to fill the opening.

I am consistently finding opportunities with the perfect job title and responsibilities which are appealing and exciting. The problem I am having is the opportunities are in cities which do not appease me. I have been living in "big league" cities such as Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia and West Palm Beach all my career. I find these locals stimulating and interesting. I am finding the perfect job opportunities in Spindale, NC, Bangor, ME, and Maryville, Missouri. I have friends who have related stories about becoming depress after accepting a job in a location which was the antithesis to their lifestyle and how it effected their work and personal life.

Do you apply for a job in a location which you know is against your lifestyle even when you are in need of work or do you wait?

  • Is patient a virtue in the hiring process? Why can't the employer let the interviewee know where they stand?

You interviewed for a position, then a week or ten days later and you have not heard anythng from the employer. You become impatient so you contact the employer wanting to know where they are in the hiring process. The employer responds by telling you "to be patient we will get back to you."

Will you hurt your chances for consideration for a follow-up interview by contacting the employer a second and third time about the hiring process when you have not heard from the employer in a timely fashion? Thank you.

  • Should you send a second note to an employer who has interviewed you for a job after you see the job reposted.

I interviewed for a Program Manager position in broadcasting. I sent thank you notes to everyone who interviewed me over the phone. I now see that the job has been reposted. Should I send another note to the people who interviewed me to boost my chances of another interview or should I just sit and wait?

  • I'm an unemployed broadcaster looking for work for the past nine months. Where can I find work?

I have been looking for work in broadcasting since September 2005. My expertise are in Broadcast Operations, Broadcast Management and Programming. All of the jobs I apply for I am either overqualified or underqualified. Finding the type of opportunity which is commensurate with one's credentials is like looking for a needle in a haystack. It is also very frustrating. I know eventually I will get my career back but I need to find something quick because my unemployment has run out and I have bills which need to be paid.

Also I want to rant against Human Resources. I haven't look for a job in over twenty years. I have never seen such callousness, insensitivity and utter disrespect as I have seen today in Human Resources departments. You ask a question and they don't give you any information. You send an e-mail inquiring about a timeline for filling the position, nobody will answer the e-mail. You leave a message, nobody will return the message. Why this sudden change?
