Is patient a virtue in the hiring process? Why can't the employer let the interviewee know where they stand?

You interviewed for a position, then a week or ten days later and you have not heard anythng from the employer. You become impatient so you contact the employer wanting to know where they are in the hiring process. The employer responds by telling you "to be patient we will get back to you."

Will you hurt your chances for consideration for a follow-up interview by contacting the employer a second and third time about the hiring process when you have not heard from the employer in a timely fashion? Thank you.

Yeah, that sucks...but it's normal. Often times they even tell you they will call you within a week and then two weeks pass and you've heard nothing.

My advice would be to take the date that they say they will contact you and then add at least a week before calling back.

Next try waiting another month before calling again. You want to make sure you are in their mind, but at the same time you don't want to be annoying.

In the mean time try to look for another job instead. Wouldn't it be great if they called you in a month to hire you and you could tell them you already found another job. Or you could call them and tell them that you need a decision within 48 hours because you have another job offer.

    Payback!!!
