If you are unemployed, you find the right job but don't care for the location, do you apply for the position?
I am an unemployed broadcaster wallowing in credit debt. I have applied for jobs but I am waiting for the Human Resources/decision-makers to make up their minds to fill the opening.
I am consistently finding opportunities with the perfect job title and responsibilities which are appealing and exciting. The problem I am having is the opportunities are in cities which do not appease me. I have been living in "big league" cities such as Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia and West Palm Beach all my career. I find these locals stimulating and interesting. I am finding the perfect job opportunities in Spindale, NC, Bangor, ME, and Maryville, Missouri. I have friends who have related stories about becoming depress after accepting a job in a location which was the antithesis to their lifestyle and how it effected their work and personal life.
Do you apply for a job in a location which you know is against your lifestyle even when you are in need of work or do you wait?

You get a job, and pay your own way, you work there until a better location comes along.
It's like the people who are unemployed, and unwilling to take a job that comes along at McDonalds, just because they don't like it. It's money, right? A lot of people can't find a job even at McDonalds. Take what you can, and count your blessings.

You might be surprised to find you actually like these locations. What's the worst that can happen? You take a job, and find you don't like the area. At least you have a job, and are making money while you look around for another job. I'd rather be employed in North Carolina than out of work in Chicago!

If I were u, I would take the job but still keep applying to others in locations that would most benefit u, or appeal to your life style. Because u don't know how long it might be before u find the right one.

It really depends on how serious your lack of employment is. If you've got creditors after you then I'd suggest taking whatever you can find for the time being.
After you're financially squared away, you could always look for a job in your field in a location that appeals to you more.

I suppose it depends on how hungry you are! Working somewhere till that perfect job opens up will at least pay the bills. Life is never perfect - but it never hurts to keep working towards something you want - along the way you'll build up lots of experience and make yourself more appealing to those jobs you want the most.

If you are NOT going to be happy there, it may not be a good idea to move there. The odd thing is that you would not be able to find a job in a large town, where opportunities thrive. But I would move to a small town if I needed money really bad, and hope something else happens while I'm there. Remember that nothing's permament!

Monster , Yahoo Hotjobs, Careerbuilder are some of the largest job boards, where you can apply for jobs and upload your resume. Since Craigslist, allows free job postings, many smaller companies post their vacancies on this online classifieds website. You can also search for jobs from multiple websites using aggregators like SimplyHired and Indeed. Referrals are also becoming a increasingly popular way to get hired.

beggers can't be choosers in my mind. however, it sounds like you aren't very adaptable and you already made your mind up about these places without even knowing if they would suit your lifestyle.
so, if i were you i would wait it out until you found something to get excited about.
just remember that we are responsible for our own happiness.
