Do you know the difference between the University of Oregon and Oregon State University?

I went to OSU, and every time I say that to someone not from Oregon, they say "is that the Beavers or the Ducks?" I even heard the guy on Sportcenter get it wrong three days ago. Are we really that insignificant or what?

Side question: How many people do you think will respond to this by calling me an idiot or asking some form of the question: "who cares?"

Friend I feel your pain. See Ducks are dirty smelly bud smoking hippies. While Beavers hit the sauce a little too hard at times...ok a lot. Truth be told until one of us (probably the beavers) becomes a dynasty no one will ever know the difference. I mean really though when it comes to mascots with the exception of Florida and Arizona does anyone know the diffence of each school's mascots. But I see your point that even the well versed in sports should know the difference. Anyway. GO BEAVS! '00

Black and orange = Oregon State Beavers, green and yellow = Oregon Ducks.

Most of the country is already in bed when the west coast teams play. I have found that the West Coast teams are not as well known as the East Coast/Midwestern schools are unless they are in the national spotlight.

My guess to your side question - 3 will call you an idiot, and 2 will say "who cares."

Yes, I am a runner and I know that the Eugene, Oregon (home of the Ducks) is arguably the running capital of the USA. I also know a guy who went to Oregon State (he was a Beaver) and went into the NFL.

it's going to rigidity you nuts, because there became meant to be a gadget in position, type of, yet as is in many situations the case with colleges no one stated it, and names and prestige replace. to illustrate, Louisiana State college wasn't the first state college there--it became Tulane, which then went inner most. yet in lots of circumstances the progression became like Mississippi's or Ohio's: there became an old college began contained in the early 1800's--U of Mississippi or Ohio college (there is not any college of Ohio, except I commence one)--and then contained in the 1870's, the respective land-provide colleges got here alongside: Mississippi Agricultural and Mechanical college, Ohio A and M, later Mississippi State U and Ohio State U, respectively. yet there are a zillion exceptions. by potential of this degree, Purdue should be Indiana State, notwithstanding this is not. And it receives worse contained in the South, because colleges precise A&M were initially for blacks, regardless of the actuality that no longer in Mississippi or Texas. Florida college names can rigidity you incredibly loopy. and remember Indiana college and California college. they are both smallish colleges in western Pennsylvania.

They're both state universities... Oregan is The Duck's and they're located in Eugene. Oregan State is the Beavers and they're located in Corvallis.
