What are the coolest things to do in Vancouver with tourists?

I have out of town guests coming to visit me in June, and I have a few things in mind, like some of my favorite restaurants, bars/lounges, the beach, some gardens, the art gallery, granville island, grouse mountain etc.

But I want to do things that are not too "touristy." I want to show them a good time, while basically doing what I normally do - but I really don't live any kind of "high life."

So, any ideas of what might be fun and unique for out of towners? Any thing that I, MYSELF absolutely have to explore?

I appreciate any answers I get, but double the points for the most creative ones!

That was my eternal question when I lived in Vancouver! The museum of Anthropology at UBC will stun any visitor. While you are there, see the Japanese Nitobe Gardens, and let your visitor loose himself in the UBC bookstore, and marvel the UBC campus with its swimming facilities and others. You can also do a free guided visit of the TRIUMPH Synclotron, a nuclear particle accelerator as big as a factory near UBC, used for the healing of some cancers. UBC also has a few cute displays in some departments. The department of geology shows some huge minerals the shape of a perfect cube.

How is that for a start?

Depends on age, fitness level, interests etc. but a few ideas:

    - Walk on the ferry over to Bowen for a hike and lunch. Being on the water and being on the small island is an easy and great West Coast experience.

    - Explore Chinatown. A lot of interesting shops and stores.

    - Hike/walk from Jericho to Wreck along the beach. Great feeling of isolation from the city as you round the peninsula and begin to face West.

    - I'm sure you have the ethnic and restaurant strips covered (Commercial, Little India, etc.) if they are of interest.

    - Canoe or Kayak up Indian Arm from Port Moody or Deep Cove. There are some interesting places up near the top of Indian Arm.

    - There are some interesting small festivals around June I believe. Trout Lake, etc. Worth surfing the web for activities around the local community centres and parks.

Many more ideas...depends again on the person and interests...

bypass to the Sandbar eating place on Granville Island. great for seafood and particularly sturdy perspectives too. inspect what's on on the theatre there, often some thing occurring. in any different case purely shop/bypass procuring there and watch the entertainers. you may nicely be waiting to hire a boat from the wharf and are available across around that way. The aquabus is likewise a advantageous ferry holiday. If depressing climate i might propose the aquarium in Stanley Park, dissimilar eating places interior the west end section interior sensible strolling distance. Or how with regards to the Harbour Centre revolving eating place observed by using a walk by using Gastown and Chinatown.
