Its an egyptian hieroglyph meaning life after death. I have one for my cat Bastet to wear.

The ankh is an Egyptian hieroglyph and also a major part of ancient Egyptian iconography. It is a tri-literal sign. Most scholars suggest that the drawing represents a tie or strap, particularly a sandal strap.

It is an ancient Egyptian symbol of life, a cross with a curved handle on top so that it could be carried or worn. Kind of reminds me of the huge cross necklaces the pastors at church wear.

The source is lost to antiquity, but I believe that it is
rooted in our subconcious, and the high priests of Solon
where the mysteries of the Mason's and Roscrucian's came from.

it is an ancient egyptian sybol and was the symbol of the male god osiris and the female goddess isis the oval. It is the symbol for fertility or life

i don't think any body has reached any solid decision about it's 'source"....it could've been anything from sandal strap to human gennitals
