Both Judaism And Islam are religions that govern the whole way of life, and I think that you are right that because of the climates where they first attracted many believers and the inability to keep meat fresh in the olden days, the relions banned pork as a matter of practicality (Then), unfortunate for modern times when so many people have problems finding enough to eat in the third world....

Customs such as abstaining from pork, circumcision, etc., have nothing to do with hygiene, and everything to do with ancient cultures intentionally separating themselves from surrounding cultures.

Islam followed the path of Judaism regarding pork, whereas Christians intentionally made pork part of the Christmas and Easter celebrations just to piss off the Jews.

Sure. Pork is unclean food according to Old Testament. In New Testament time, we can eat pork, no problem. But some claim that, for health reasons, we shouldn't eat pork.

In the lands where Judaism and Islam originated, the only pigs available were wild ones - basically 'scavengers' used to eating human excreta.

As such, naturally they were considered unfit for human consumption ! But since there were enough impoverished folk who might feel tempted to try eating their flesh, the 'religious leaders' of that era announced that 'God himself had forbidden the consumption of pork' - and that it was absolutely 'haraam' (for Islam), and 'not kosher' (for the Jews).

The simple-minded folk of those times were too ignorant to even ask when, where and how God had imposed that ban. And as with all 'God fearing' folk [one was supposed to be afraid of God, for he punished sinners in highly horrifying and brutal ways !], they promptly decided to simply go without meat rather than incur God's hi-power wrath !

...Times changed, pigs were domesticated, fed plus fattened on healthy diets, and reared for their flesh. But still the concerned religious leaders did not feel any felt need to remove the vintage ban on pork - because their more knowledgeable followers would now demand when, where and how God had subsequently 'cleared' pork for them !

So, the ban stays on !

That is true....all sins have logical explanations and all meat can be salted and kept except pork which is a haven for parasites and worms.

Pork is also the unhealthiest meat to eat in large amounts.

I don't understand your question. Obviously they don't eat pork for health reasons which are also religious but this is not unusual. There are many religious activities that are done for that reason but also just make good sense.

Worms and maggots forming in muscle tissue. The filth that pigs originate from, they are known to eat poop-their primary food source until they are brought on farms.

All meat coming from split hoofed animals was considered to be unclean in Biblical times.....Has nothing to do with how well it holds up in hot weather....

just think about it. when someone call you "pig". what is the first thing that will pop in your mind about the name of that animal?

pig = dirt, nasty, selfish, no feeling, hateful, disgusting..etc. something about this animal is just not right
