Vitamin K given to new born babies.?
After a child is born (in the UK) the automatically give it a vitamin K injection; I was told this is because it helps thicken the blood and prevents (excessive) bleeding in the case of an accident - as the baby is born without vitamin K, they advise this is needed.
As well as the baby being born without vitamin K there is no Vitamin K in mothers milk either, so this is stated as another reason for given in an injection form and also placing it in milk formula (if used).
My question is that if it is not present when born and not present in mother’s milk, surely there must be a good reason for this?
Just giving it because it is not there seems illogical to me, could anybody please shed any more light on why this is given and what studies have been completed to show the benefits against any possible negative side effects.
7 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoThe Second commandment is " thou shalt have no other Gods before me"?
The way that this is worded confirms the existance of other Gods,
It does not say that there are no other Gods just instructs you not to worship them, so why to believers of the three major relgions (Judism, Christianity and Islam) which all believe in the commandments as the word of God - deny the existance of other Gods?
28 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHow long would somebody expect to survive with a METASTATIC BRAIN TUMOR if no treatment was undertaken?
Treatment is unlikely as the person has already been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, has already undergone chemo for this, which resulted in a reduction of the size of the tumour but was told before that it was incurable (the treatment was done to extend life expectancy not to cure the cancer) and no further chemo can be undertaken for at least another 4 months. It now appears (although as yet undiagnosed -but conditions indicate) that it has also infected the brain - so was wondering how long the end will be in coming if this cancer is untreated?
15 AnswersCancer1 decade agoIf somebody says that Mohamed was not prophet is this?
any more insulting to Islam/a Muslim than to say that Jesus was not the Son of God to Christianity/a Christian?
In both instances it would be denouncing the reason for the religion and the guiding figure behind both religions.
33 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDo you think that immigrants should serve there country?
I believe that any people who wish to become a citizen of another country - any country - should be forced by law, as part of the immigration process, to serve at least two years in the armed forces of the country that they wish to become a citizen of. If they are to old or ill to serve in the armed forces, then they should serve the local community for two years in there spare time, doing community service - be it sweeping the streets or teaching in schools.
In this they would show a willingness to serve, protect and be a part of the country that they wish to adopt as there home.
If they are unwilling to do this - then there application should be rejected without further reason.
Any body think along similar lines?
17 AnswersImmigration1 decade agoThere is a story posted on the BBC news web site that advises Muslims "in denial" on extremism?
i agree with this point of view, however later in the same article it quotes a politician as saying
" the huge challange now is how can we regain the trust in the Muslim Community"
meaning how can the government and presumably the people of the UK regain the trust of teh Muslims in the UK
I think that a bigger question would be
"how can the Muslim community in the UK regain the trust of the British people in general"
who agrees with this point of view!

3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality2 decades agoIf religions have been corrupted by the people who run them, do you still believe in your religions holy book?
I asked a question a few hours ago if people believe that religion has been corrupted, and all answers (so far) have been yes - but a fair few people still believed that there relgions holy book was acurate, so if your relgion has been currupted why not your holy book, writings, scriptures or whatever your relgion calls them?
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality2 decades agoHave religions been corrupted through the ages by the people in charge of them?
This is about all relgions.
I am not asking about the core beliefs, i.e. be good and don't hurt other's, but about how they say that you should go about doing it?
