Why do I have to pay for boulders for my yard?
I can understand paying for delivery, but boulders are not an endangered species.

Because to get them to you, they have been handle by laborers 2-5 times. Not to mention possible storage. delivery fees normally cover truck(maintenance, financing, and insurance), and driver (wage includes benefits and Workman's comp). Normally they are loaded with a front end loader which includes all the same overhead as the truck and driver.

Seems obvious you have never gone out to get such boulders from the river bed or some other source. You don't want to pay someone for their labor. Get yourself a truck or rent a trailer or pu; con your friends to help, then Gas is pushing $3 a gallon. MAke sure you have liniment for a sore back, lots of hot water for a soak then have the wife rub the back. Then have a picture taken for dummy Mag.
The biggest problem is people think they should be paid well for their labor, maybe even a little more, but hate to see anyone else get paid for taking the risk. I mean what if a person increases his stock of rocks, boulders etc. & then they went out style? You would you help out with the loss then? You get what you pay for. Take the risk & keep the $, its a fairly free society

You don't if you go out in the countryside somewhere and find them yourself.
