Do you think 'Global Warming' is true or a myth? I can't seem to resolve my on-going debate with ATL friend
Only in the US do so many people still believe the latter to be true. Evidently, this country is divided on this issue which you will probably see here.
Many people believe so called "Environmentalist Tree Huggers" are to blame for they Global Warming "hype", that we're only one degree warmer during this century and it is withing normal climatic change boundaries. Reasons could be cycles of the Sun via sun spots, and it's pull on the Earth's orbit, etc. They will also say that a hundred years of C02 emmitted from vehicles is the rough equivalent to one volcano going off which we've experienced not long ago with Mt. St Helens.
Other's feel that there are certain interests, industry giants, politicans, ..., who pay big bucks to think tanks, lobbyist, etc. to keep the public guessing on the issue. Even though the president himself admitted to both the reality of Global Warming and that mankind is the reason why" See for yourself, George Bush - last G8 Summit. EPA, NASA, ...

well most western countries bar the usa have accepted the Overwhelming evidence that global warming is taking place. just take a look at the glaciers breaking up and falling into the sea.
i wonder why the usa is refusing to accept climate change as fact,maybe because coorparations pretty much hold sway over government policy

true... if we notice our environment so much calamities... and one cause of global warming is due to excessive air pollution coming from factories, vehicles and a lot from burning materials which can cause the ozone layer to be destroyed. i obeserved in my place due to global warming our sea levels increases, which is not normal during summer time, that means the glaciers and ice are melting because of the global warming.

Myth
Its just an excuse to get money for enviromental groups.
Like "wonkaolagist" said, some ice is getting thicker. But some is probably melting too.

The push to "prove" it is a myth.
There have been ice ages before, they will also come again.
Global warming is necessary for SOME scientists to have any credibility and immediately becomes a political football for fear mongers.

myth. i've heard in some northern countries the ice is getting thicker. i also think the ozone layer fading is just natural; it was bound to happen sometime. humans aren't invincable, and i don't think many of us realize that.

true. the ice is melting, we're having a lot more earthquakes and hurricanes, and there's holes in the ozone layer.

well, the greenhouse gases are probably a natural thing and humans are just overreacting because they can't control the planet. but we are definitely speeding it up with SUV's, etc.
