If God Himself Established Judaism,?
and Jesus and His Apostles honored it and kept the Feasts and Friday evening to Saturday evening Sabbath, and Paul did also, why does the world think it is only for the Jews and not all mankind? Jesus Himself said He didn't destroy the Laws, He didn't do away with them, He fulfilled the punishment (ceremonial)side of the Laws. Since when is it alright to say God didn't know what He was doing when He established His Religion? If Jesus was going to do away with the Torah, then why did He and His Apostles continue to honor it, If you read your Bible Paul kept the Feasts, He honored the True Sabbath, He didn't turn away from Judaism.
Dukie you are right
thank you stetson

Yes, Jesus told his Jewish followers to keep the law from mt. Sinai. Like Torah says, the Law is forever.

Read the Bible
Leviticus 26:46 These are the decrees, the laws and the regulations that the LORD established on Mount Sinai between himself and the Israelites through Moses
Deuteronomy 5:1 Hear, O Israel, the decrees and laws I declare in your hearing today. Learn them and be sure to follow them
Their are a few more but the point is all the laws and the testaments set down in the Bible were only for the Jewish people. The reason why Jesus and the Apostles kept them was because they were Jewish. Never was the 613 commandments of Gd meant to be for any one else.
The fact is Jesus could not do away with the Torah because Gd states that it will be an eternal covenant between him and the Jewish people he says it over and over again. no one can take that away or claim it as their own

All the Feasts of Judaism are "pictures of what Messiah Yeshua did." He Is Unleven Bread, Our Passover Lamb, The First fruits of the Harvest of Mankind & The Giver Of The Holy Spirit (fulfillment of Pentecost)The rest He will fulfill in the Plan that will start with The Catching Away of the Saints(Feast of Trumpets) and ends at the White Throne Judgment.(I purposely left out other Feasts due to limited space). Jesus said, "You search the Scriptures & in Them you think you have Salvation, but These are They that speak of Me." Christianity is a Sect of Judaism, and some of the Flavor of That has been lost through the 2,000 years that have passed. When He comes again, those lost things will be restored. Read the last 7 or so verses of Isiah's Writings, It'll set things straight. God Bless, The Promised Seed of Abraham.

If you look at history, it is true that for the first century what are now christians were a jewish sect referred to as the way. After some time the jews started getting annoyed at the christians and started excluding them from the temple, so it is actually the jews that forced christianity out of judaism not the other way around. I reccommend you read The community of the beloved disciple by Raymond Brown. it has a good explanation of the whole issue.

The Sabbath has never prescribed itself outside of Judaism - ask any modern Jew of today who employs a Shabbos Goy whether he believes Gentiles are bound by the Sabbath.
Christians have always - even in the time of the apostles, as the Didache and Acts prove - always honoured the Lord's Day, the day when we Christians believe the creation was made new again. The new creation is more spectacular and amazing, in our belief, than the old, and that is why it receives pride of place in our worship.
That is why the vast majority of Christians - all of them, really, other than a relative handful - have never been adventists.

...yes it's true "The Law" is a glorious part of God's plan.. Why just imagine if the "savior of the world" had showed up in the midst of tree worshiping tribes! or a community all married to each other or something..
then the good news was to spread out and fill the world from there.. from the Holy Land..
Are you aware that Jesus' first advent fulfilled the Hebrew Holy Days (and His 2nd advent will fulfill the fall ones)- died on Passover as Passover Lamb, buried on Unleavened Bread (sometimes just called Passover or Sabbath, too), and Rose on the Feast of Firstfruits (which day always followed the regular saturday Sabbath of Holy Week.. So it's my strong conviction that the ancient Hebrew holidays will be kept in the Kingdom after Jesus' return.. but the Christian ones too.. (It's not true sunday belongs to the pagans, or satan.. God made every day and both Firstfruits and Pentecost always fell on 'sunday'..
Jesus is the "fulfilling of the law" - It's not that we then now don't need to follow the law.. but "in Jesus the old man Is dead" - Jesus said it's not enough to not murder.. that law is for the "old man" - If we are living in close union with God through Jesus, and earnestly pursuing Him we will be filled with Him, it's not so much, in this state, that we have to rise up each day and say "i must remember not to murder today" but Jesus says, do not dislike (have hate) in your heart.. do not cheat, but also, Jesus says, do not be unfaithful in your heart.. no looking at someone that way, physically or mentally unless they are your wedded mate.. And do not covet. Can the unsaved "old man" do this? Not very dang easily! doesn't work! better to be saved and pursue God and be FILLED up with Him.. not so easy to rob steal murder and defraud others if you are filled to overflowing with Him. THIS is what works - filled with Him, who is Love - 1Jn4:8.
Jesus said "my yoke is easy, MY burden is light"
1 RULE = Love God with all our heart, mind, strength and life.. for God is "all in all". This can set folks free.. and fill to overflowing with His Spirit..
I love the ancient Holy Days! And I think God loves it that we do.. but it's my own conviction, my message is "Christ crucified" - not my own convictions and choices.. The Jerusalem Council (Acts 16) decided "the gentile believers do not have to become Jewish to be saved" or have approval..
be blessed..

Christianity never saw itself as a "new religion". Rather, the early Jewish followers of Christ saw the faith as the natural continuation of the Jewish faith. They continued to go to the synagogues and preached that Jesus was the long-awaited Messiah. In time, the separation became complete as the majority of Jews rejected Christ as the Messiah.
You are correct in noting that Jesus did not come to destroy the law....rather, he came to fulfill the requirements of the law for us all.
ADDITION: What has been said about "Christianity coming 100's of years later" has absolutely no basis in fact whatsoever. You want secular sources? Fine take Roman historians: Nero persecuted/killed hundreds of CHRISTIANS around 64 AD. Domitian did the same at the close of the 1st century. How did they persecute a group that didn't exist?
Source(s): Col 2: 16-19 - "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a feast day, or a new moon, or a sabbath day: which were a shadow of the things to come" - Anonymous2 decades ago
You are absolutely right. And that is where the problem starts. There are so many denominations now, the only denomination that honour the sabbath is Seventh day Adventist. Everyone is pulling so far away from the foundation, which Jesus said 'upon this rock, I build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail". I do agree, and I seriously believe if Christians across the board are going to have unity, then they all need to go back to basics.

The answer is Paul. Paul (read his letters) decided that the laws where to hard to follow and attempts to follow them where destined to fail. So he did away with them and replaced them with belief in Jesus.
Jesus (as did his brother James) by the way lived by Torah as did the apostles and the early church. Until that is Paul exerted his influence.

The whole world doesn't believe that the Judeo-Christian god is the only god, that's why.
Just as you probably don't believe that Hindu gods are "real", they probably don't believe in your god. Or, perhaps they do believe in the existance of your god, but I suppose its kind of like caring about what the president of another country thinks.
Even God Himself admitted in the Bible that he was not the only god - an "obscure reference" that many Christians either don't know, or prefer to gloss over, as it doesn't fit in with their view of all heathens being damned. Its in the first commandment: Thou shalt have no other god before me. Logic implies that this means that there are other gods. If it didn't, wouldn't it have said Thou shalt not worship false gods? Or something to that effect?
