Why is it that so many people on the internet can't spell?

To a lot of people, English isn't their first language, therefore it makes it more difficult. But if it is your first language, it makes a much better presentation if the spelling is correct. I also think the standards have dropped in recent years and not enough emphasis on good spelling is used in schools.

U r right, spell check might make one's question so much clearer but the last time I used it, it took so long that i neva bothered using it again. i s'ppose i now depend on the lil' english i knw to spell check as i type.

In any case, if u study the keyboard, u'll notice that the keys aren't arranged alphabetically, so hitting the right key ALL the time is sure is rocket science. I always hit y instead of t and i instead of o. they are too damn close, and ma fingers ain't that slim.

There's so much to do over the internet, so spelling (i'm sure) is the least of my worries whenever i have to type, unless i'm applying for a job online.

Spell checking is for English and it works for those who know the words in English.

The Internet is not available only for native speakers.

Schools don't teach correct spelling like they used to in years gone by, correct spelling isn't that important or essential any more.

A lot of people are not native English speakers, hence the poor spelling and grammar. Maybe they cant understand how the spell checker works or haven't noticed it.

its not so much as not being able to spell as to no being able to type very well plus there usually in a hurry lol but yea some people just cant spell.

I think so many people can't type and they are in a hurry and don't spell check.

some people find spelling hard i learned to spell when i was young but if found was that the better

It's because they are too lazy to actually type out the word, and/or they are incapable or don't know how to type properly. And also because a lot of them are really young and young people are always in a hurry.

They dont spell right because it would take some people them forever to type so they use short hand!Some people don't like to use shorthand!!!
