As a Christain, do you believe it is fair that if....?

A person who commits murder or rape and asks god for forgiveness will go to heaven... But if a person that leads a very clean and life full of compasion for others that believes in another religion will go to hell?

Is your god really this desperate for recognition that he would dismiss good people that do know believe over malicious human beings that believe?

Update:

walton, I was always told in christian churches that if you confess your sins to god and ask for forgiveness you would be cleansed of sin and would go to heaven

If you listen/read long enough, you'll see that "christians" can get away with believing just about anything they want, and they can use that belief to rant and rave all the same.

I don't have a problem with your man who commits rape and murder and then asks for forgiveness, but I don't believe there is a person who leads a very clean and life full of compassion. If you knew the heart of man you might find no one like that exists. Christ said, all have sinned. There is none good. We all are worthy of hell and anyone can come to God for forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

The Bible says that we do not get to Heaven on our works (Ephesians 2:8-9). And God speaks very strongly in the Bible that we are to worship NO other gods, and that He(God), is the one true God. We are also not to call anyone "father", but God. So, just being "good" does not a Christian make. Accepting Jesus into your heart, and changing your lifestyle to conform to His Word, believing that Jesus died for you for the forgiveness of your sins...that gets you to Heaven. And Romans 3:23 states that ALL have sinned. There is no one righteous except for Jesus! Hope this helps, and God bless you!!!!!

IF the worst person alive in the world today went to God with a sincere heart and asked forgiveness for the sins that he/she committed. Then God would forgive that person. However, if that person did not then live according to Christ and the Word of God, I doubt that they would enter heaven.

All sin is equal in the eyes of God, whether it is a white lie, or murder.

Christians don't earn eternal life by being good. That would be to reject the sacrifice of Christ on the cross as being not as good as what we can do for ourselves and to reject a Holy God who must punish sin (Jesus took that punishment on the cross in our place). The Bible says in Ephesians 2:8-10:

8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9Not of works, lest any man should boast.

No matter who we are whether we are whether a minister or a murderer, unless we accept what Jesus did on the cross as God's only means of salvation, we cannot enter into God's presence either in this life or the next.

God says that there is more rejoicing in heaven over 1 sinner who repents than over 99 righteous people who do not see their need to repent(See Luke 15:7).

I've always believed that God doesn't care about Religion, what he cares about is Faith. Religion is just part of the trappings of our mortal selves, whereas Faith is believe in him. So, I think Religion has no effect on who gets into heaven. However, I do believe that someone who has committed murder or rape could get into heaven. Not because they just ask for forgiveness, however. It's a little deeper than that. You have to actually have remorse for your crime. You have to understand what you did was wrong, and sincerely want to make amends for it.

    Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

If you do something and you are sicerely sorry you've done that. God forgives. But if you just go through life believing your own self rightousness will save you. You'd be fooling yourself. We are all sinners in Gods eyes if we sin we must feel remorse for what we've done.No matter how small a sin might seem to us God sees it as disobediance to him. We've got to want to live a rightous life. If a muderer repents in his heart he's saying if I could live it over I will not commit that sin again. God gives us all that second chance no matter what our sins are.

was it fair at all that God sent his son to die for ALL? even those who rejected and crucified Jesus? Jesus died between two thieves, one says curse God and die the other says he is sorry for what he has done, Jesus says this day will i see you in paradise, looks to heaven and says to God, Father forgive them.... since Jesus paid the price shouldn't it be his call who he forgives?

****catarina33pa99**** picture this, you are in the desert, the sun beating down on you, sand whipping your face, you have not had a drink in days... someone stands there with a thermos, you see the beads of sweat on the outside of the thermos, you know there is something cold and wet inside, you believe there is something cold and wet inside, it is offered to you and you continue to lay there in the sand... what good is that drink if you do not accept it?

another analagy, you work for a very wealthy family, you are good to them in every aspect as an employee,. the employer loves you as though you are family and offers to adopt you, you decline, and continue to live a good life with the family and continue to do good for the family, the family dies, do you inherit the wealth? no you are not family!

to become a christian it is more than just doing good things and living a good life, Going to church, and doing good don't make a person a Christian any more than if the cat had kittens in the oven would it make them biskets, or if you sleep in a garrage would it make you a car.

to become a Christian you need to accept what Christ has done for you, ask for forgiveness from your sins, and proclaim The God of the heavens to the the Lord of your heart and life. the Bible says All have sinned and come short of God's Glory ... Also, read in the book of John, chapter 3 http://www.blueletterbible.org/kjv/Jhn/Jhn003.html...

the book of Revelation ( http://www.blueletterbible.org/kjv/Rev/Rev001.html... ) spells out what this world is in for - for those who do not repent and accept Christ.

I pray you do not fall into the trap of believing just because you are good that you are guaranteed heaven.

I am a Christian. You are very misinformed, if you believe those things to be true.

Christians do not believe that everyone else is going to hell. There may be one or two denominations that do...but, most do not believe that, at all.

God is not "desperate for recognition"! What a concept!

God is loving and WANTS to forgive everyone for their sins. He loves us....as we love our own children...only even more. He does not want to see anyone go to hell. Would you want to see your child go there?

He is fair, he is just. And, all we need to do for forgiveness of any act...is to ask.

    Christianity is based on LOVE.

I'm not a Christian, but I do have something to say here. I believe that all people, even murderers and rapists, will eventually attain salvation. And I believe this is fair because we go through many lives and one pays for those wrong actions with the bad things that happen to them in their lives. And they also can become as a completely new person if they repent sincerely.

Let me give you a great analogy I heard one time from a Jewish source:

Imagine that there is a King and all these people in the capital city came to see him. They did not travel far, for they all happened to live right there in that city. But there is one person who lived very very far from the King, but he travelled long and far to get to the King. The visit of this far-away traveller is very special to the King, because of the distance he had to come.

Think of it like this. One who commits murder and rape is VERY far from the King, God. But if he manages to truly come to God, sincerely in true repentance, then he has travelled very far indeed. This in itself is impressive.

  • A sin is a sin is a sin. Wheter you murder or rape or even practice a religion that is not 100% in line with God's Word (The Bible).

That's why God says to study His Word to show yourself approved.
