Period Pain?

Can anyone suggest the best way to relieve this. In my old job I used to be able to take the first day off because mine are so extreme but now I can't. Also do you think pms days should be allowed - that being - one day off a month for each chick when she has her periods?

I bring a heating pad to work. I take the Ibuprofen every four hours and try to walk during my breaks.

heating pads on my stomach and rubbing my lower back with a tennis ball usually work best. Talk to a doctor if that doesn't work. I think there should be reasonable amount of sick days so we can take off in a situation where we are hurting. that is what they are for. since not all women have the same pain experiences, official days off seem a little excessive.

Okay I am a guy and I can't speak on the pain but the day off thing would probably work if you have a male boss and told him it was your period. The guy wouldn't no what to say if you called in and said I have cramps like hell heavy bleeding and I don't know if my pad will hold it all. I am sure you could have a ok'd sick day.

Well, the reason midol works so well is because it has Tylenol and caffeine in it. Also, drinking more water can help with the cramps, and drinking lots of green tea the week before and during can help flush the retained fluid out of the body (that fluid often causes breast sensitivity). I dunno about getting a day off, I think men would pitch a fit. I have a room-mate who gets bad cramps, and after seeing the pain she's in, I think calling in for that should be allowed sometimes.

It is awfull period pain 1 a month I am off work for at least 2 days for pain and headaches .I have tried everything some people think that the pill may help maybe it would work for you.

Definitely take same Tylenol or Midol. Very helpful and calmes down those cramps. Moving around helps also.

In extreme cases heating pads are very helpful, but take some aspirin along with it.

You don't say how old you are. If you have already had all the children you plan on having- ask your doctor about the Novasure procedure. It works very well and virtually eliminates heavy periods. No, I don't get days off for periods- never have. I don't work, I don't get paid. My job doesn't give paid sick days.

Another very good way to allieve mentrual pain is to watch what you are eating and drinking as your time of te month approaches. No caffeine, basically. Mine used to nearly knock me down, but when I cut coffee, soda ad chocolate one week out of the month, the ease more than make up for not having them. So glad.

It sounds like you have dysmenorrhea. Read more about it at the site below and then talk to your gynecologist.

If you are on the pill, you might want to change the day you start the packet. For example...if you start the packet on Sunday and get your period on Thursday...try starting the packet on Tuesday and you'll get your period on Saturday. It'll ruin your weekend, but at least you won't have to work.

I used to throw up during my period and have severe pain and mood swings

now that I have been working out it is better

heating pads are great (there are those new protible heating pads, I have not tried them yet but they look like a fantastic idea)

Pamprin - it is like midol but I never found midol to work but I have found pamprin to work miracles

    warm baths with epsom salts

avoid all those bad food cravings (sugar, fat, chocolate but most especially salt)

I take Orudis KT. It's on the medicine aisle of most grocery stores. It's a little expensive, but it's really strong and helps alot. Make sure you read the bottles of any medication that you plan on taking, though, to make sure it's okay for your body.
