what is in the briefcase in the movie pulp fiction to make it shine like that?

I always thought it was just money and Quintin Tarntino use the luminous effect to add to the mystery. Great Movie! One of my favorites.

It is somewhat of a mystery. When Tarantino was asked, he simply said that it was a plot device to help advance the story. There are some crazy theories about it though. Some believe it is Marsellus's soul in the briefcase. It is further explained on the wikipedia page about Pulp Fiction.

I heard a theory that it was Marcellus Wallace's soul, not sure if I buy that one. But it was supposed to involve the band-aid on the back of his neck.
