step 1 usmle scores?

i want to go into emergency medicine. what are competive scores for the step one to feel pretty comfortable in applying for programs in e.m. (if it makes a difference, i am thinking about applying in the midwest- minneapolis's hcmc as number 1).

Update:

so you don't think i'll sound too desperate or retarded if i do that?

Update 2:

yeah, i guess i'm asking to know what scores will even get me an interview.

and the whole second paragraph just confuses me. that sounds like advice you'd give someone if they got low mcat scores. i'm gonna be too busy with clerkships and subinternships to go and observe research overseas between the time of the usmle and residency interviews. what kind of experience are you talking about? it doesn't sound like the experience of a resident or doctor.

I think if you get an interview then the interview itself is what really matters...you can see some of the questions asked in the interview in these sites : (residencyandfellowship.com )

and even if you didnt get a good score you can build more chances by doing an observership or attachment to a hospital in the usa or even go to any hospital were they have research and be a volunteer. that would really give you some good chances even with a low score.

The best way to get information is by calling them and getting the information directly from them, trust me, thats the way you want those kinds of informaton.
