No it's not, if they arrest your they have to read you your rights, and sometimes they do that at court.

No, officers are allowed to lie and use other means of deception to investigate crimes (i.e., undercover officers). This has been allowed through several court rulings including Miranda Vs. Arizona. However, there are some restrictions including; officers can not hide their identity during an interview of subject who is in custody (i.e., officers pose as a priest and get an inmate to confess). Officers also can not lie in such a way that will coerce an innocent person to confess.
Additionally, officers are not required to read a person his Miranda rights after arresting a subject. Officers are only required to advise a subject of his rights immediately prior to custodial interrogations. Interrogations do not include general questions including; name, address, etc.

California cops don't hesitate to break the law; they are all power hungry mongrels.
They did that to a friend of mine, they beat him, ruined a legal collection he had been collecting all his life for his retirement
California has become a police state.
In any case you can demand that the duty sergeant be present and if they want to enter your dwelling you should demand a warrant.
