Why must the Yankees and Redsox fans always fight. Can't we all just get along?

I once heard that Democrats and Republicans are like Yankees and Red Sox because they do not like each other and I think that the Red Sox and the Yankees fight because they are rivals that want to win no matter whet.

Its simple really. Cause there is no fun in getting along. If there wasn't tention between the two teams the games wouldn't half as exciting. Now the fighting bit is just dumb drunks. I'm totally assuming this but pretty confident that i'm about 90% right. And really who cares it ads to the excitment.
