Soccer;basketball or karate? And why?

It really depends on the boy and what you are looking for in a sport. If your son is aggressive and active, he may really love soccer or basketball. If he is more timid or hesitant, he may find these sports intimidating. T-ball is a less intimidating starter sport that is often offered for this age group. Karate is different than a team sport in that it is more about individual discipline. It can help a timid kid develop self-confidence or an aggressive kid develop self-control. Unlike most team sports, which have their seasons and are over, karate is more of a long-term commitment.
The most important thing to realize is that at age six, your son should be able to try different things and not get locked into one sport to the exclusion of all others. And parents need to work hard to keep their egos out of their kids' sports.

I find this to be an interesting question.
Children in sports is great the biggest problem is that most of the time the parents get over zealous when the child doesn't do as well as they thing he/she should.
The best sport to put the child in would be the one that the child likes, there are plenty of sports to choose from and all have their benefits.
Soccer teaches great motor skills -- baseball teaches great hand eye coordination -- football teaches a child motor skills and memorization
Swimming is the one sport that teaches everything, it is the only sport that exercises every muscle of the body and teaches the child discipline at the same time. Even the brain gets a workout.

My six and eight year are not playing sports but when I was their age I was doing athletics. I ended up playing all soccer, basketball and took part in karate. First sport I remember playing was rugby and tennis
My opinion is
Basketball the ring is two high for six year olds
Karate the kids start practicing their moves on schoolmates
Soccer you need less cordination, speed and strength without the possibility of injuries like playing rugby.
In my six year olds school they are not allowed to play rugby until their 7 years old so only allowed to play soccer

I say Soccer is a great sport for a 6 year old. My son is Six and he plays soccer. It teachs him how to be a team player and lets him have fun at the same time.

I would say soccer. I say this because your child is at a stage in his physical development when coordination skills develop. Soccer is a great way to help build coordination. Also, he is about to enter or is just entering grade one. Soccer is a team sport and allows him to play with others and build social skills. Soccer is also a sport that anyone can play and learn to be good at. Soccer also gives you an opportunity to get to know some of the other parents in the neighborhood.

Hi.I put my son(7yr) in soccer. at first he wasn't interested in it because he was learning but now he has been in for 3 seasons and he is great at defense.
I know you said boy but I also have a daughter(5yr). She is in her first season. She isn't really into it because I have no clue. It is funny to watch kids; some boys and most of the girls like to sit down on the grass picking up weeds, lady bugs and stuff. It depends on the kid. I know it is $money$ and time we are talking about but the only way to find out is for the kid to try it and have fun!!!!

I say karate. It is more than just a sport. Also it is some thing that your son can do wether it is raining, snowing, or sunny out. My son loves Karate, he had a choice to do any sport and his number one was Karate. He also loves baseball, but if we had to pick one it would be karate.

Taekwon do is a good one to start at the age 6, he can work towards a black belt by the time he is 12.
