Is gym/P.E. a required class in college?
If you're not an athletic major? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm just curious.
Wow, what a relief! Even if PE is required, it won't be like the 'shame and humiliation' style gym class of my highschool! I'd be much more enthusiastic about a specialized gym class.

It depends on the school. In general, you are more likely to be required to take a physical education class at a private university than a public one. If the thought of a "gym class" scares you, fear not. They are nothing like what you had to suffer in 7th grade.
Often, P.E. classes are specialized in a sport or activity that interests you, like volleyball, aerobics, weight-lifting, or bowling. Check the websites of a few schools you are interested in to see if they have that requirement.

For most school you don't have to take an athletic classses if its not part of your major. I think the only exception is if your attending a military-type college like West Point. I did just hear of a college yesterday on the radio that next year will be doing away with there swim test requirement for graduation. So, I guess a few school might have strange requirements like that. If you have a particular school in mind, just go to there website and check the general requirements for graduation.

At my college, 2 PE classes were required. But the variety of PE classes is greater. I took Martial Arts and Ladies Physical Fitness. My friends took Country Line Dancing and Step. We were also offered Ice skating and bowling.

It depends on the school, but luckily at my college it wasn't or I probably wouldn't have graduated!!!
However, those PE classes in college can help, in situations like when you need to maintain a certain number of units every semester. At my college PE classes are one unit each. I did actually enroll in some PE classes. One semester I took a skiing class, and this past semester I took yoga.
good luck!

Depends on your major but usually no. Check with your college advisor or the detailed descriptions of requirements for whatever you're majoring in.

P.E. is required with some degrees, but it's simple, like weight lifting...whodathunkit...credits for weight lifting., plus it depends on the school
