  • Stafford Loan Grace Period, Summer?

If I have taken out a Stafford loan and only attend college during the spring and fall semesters, will my lender count the coming summer as my grace period?

I graduated from high school this wednesday, and I can't help but wonder what people do with their robes...you can't exactly put it in a shadowbox with your cap! Maybe I could use it as a Hogwarts student costume?lol

  • Ethnicity/race-based scholarships?

What is your opinion on the merit of ethnicity/ race-based scholarships? Do you think it would be fair if anglo-saxon/caucasian/white scholarships were given out?

  • What's your gym class horror story?

What's your gym class horror story?

Today I was dreading having to do the mile, until Coach said we weren't doing the mile, or the pacer...instead, we were gonna play this game called 'horse' (which is just oodles of fun)

Horse is a game where you start at one end of the gym, run to the free-throw line and back, then the half-way line and back, then the opposite free-throw line and back, then to the other freakin' side and back. You are placed in groups to do this, should one of you happen to not make it within 30 seconds give or take, then you got to do it again!

Coach put me and another girl that's really fat like me in a group with a couple of normal girls. We go through this 'game' about three times, and I start feeling dizzy, disoriented, and about to faint. The other fat girl goes in the bathroom and I think I'm about to faint so I go in there too to kind of collapse for a while until I can remember my name. Then I hear the most horrible sound:

  • Are Greeks considered white/caucasian?

I'm just curcious because this greek dude I know is paler than Casper but his friend tells him he's not white and that some people consider Russians as non-whites as well. This also got me thinking, if we call some ppl white and some ppl black, then what should we call the rest? Brown? society...lol

  • High school gym class. How was it for you?

How did you survive high school gym class? Were you the fat kid? The coach's favorite? Was the coach an asshole? Did you ever hear of someone not being allowed to graduate because of a gym class?

    (ah, memories...)

  • Is it safe to donate blood these days?

My highschool is having a blood drive this week, and I'm thinking about donating, but my dad doesn't want me to because he thinks I might get HIV or some other disease through transfusion. Are these fears unfounded? He also thinks the blood centers try to get blood for nothing by enticing people to donate when they're young..he says it's not good for you to donate blood, and it makes you weak.

Is my dad right to have concern or is he just being paranoid?

  • Anti-depressants and drowsiness?

    Some background first:

My mom is the assistant manager at a large apartment complex. Her boss is...bipolar..and most of her co workers are more of a hindrance than help. Then there's the residents. And she's the lady to go to for answers. In a nutshell, a high-stress life. She's had a tough childhood and a horrible previous marriage, too.

    The problem:

She's taking diabetes medication and prozac. On the weekends she'll sleep on the couch until 4PM and generally wants to sit there and watch T.V. all day. She's reluctant to balance the checkbook(she's been juggling debt on credit cards), and sometimes some bills slip her memory and she has to make payments by phone. She's a workaholic who always puts herself last.

Are there anti-depressants that don't cause a drowsiness side-effect, or maybe some energy supplements she can take(she's 49)? Maybe there's someway my dad and I can help her be more motivated and happy?

Thanks in advance for your consideration.

  • What's the big deal about prom?

I guess if you've got a relationship or if you've really connected with the rest of your senior class, then that would be reason enough to go. For an outsider, it's just a fancy high school dance. Does anybody /really/ regret not going? I'm not being cynical here...I'm honestly very curious about why people make such a big deal about it.

  • Fat chance?

Getting in shape doesn't happen overnight. What are a fat girl's chances in the dating scene? Guys say they're picky but I've seen some 'Large Marges' in relationships, and some crazy kooky wierd nucking futz girls get asked out, too. Sometimes it seems like there truly is someone for everyone...but you.

  • Let's bring this issue back down to earth. How about some intelligent discussion?

We need to reconsider the criteria of what makes a person a legal citizen of the United States. Other countries, like Japan and Kuwait, consider your family bloodlines when deciding whether you are a citizen of their country or not. No fences and no shooting(only in a redneck's wet dream) will solve this- we need enforcement of our existing laws WITHIN the country--employers and govt. hand-out agencies are the main culprits for proliferating this illegal immigration problem. It's very, very tiring to hear the banter back and forth ... accusations of 'racism' to keep people mum, sob stories about people looking for a better life, etc. etc., when we need to look away from all that bullshit and face the real problem: ILLEGAL immigration. Not immigration, /illegal/ immgration. Remember when illegal meant 'against the law'? A country without protected borders is not a country at all. If people flood in here and rape the system then that just turns the US into a sort of international midwife

  • Something's wrong with my PS2?

My PS2 was working fine a month ago, then it stayed turned off for a while cos I've been catching up w/schoolwork, etc. I tried using it today and the picture that shows up on the screen looks like a seizure, for lack of a better description- it flashes, the color is off, and the text is fragmented and unintelligible. It's nothing to do with the game disc, so I'm thinking it's something to do with the hardware. Have any of you run into this problem before? Also, where does one take a game console to get it serviced?
