Ethnicity/race-based scholarships?

What is your opinion on the merit of ethnicity/ race-based scholarships? Do you think it would be fair if anglo-saxon/caucasian/white scholarships were given out?

Well, certainly if one type of race-based scholarships are fair, any type would be. But that isn't really the point, is it? The idea is to support youth from various ethnic groups who want to get a good education. While it may seem unfair to groups who aren't of that race, it is a noble ideal.

Colleges typically believe that a varied student body is valuable to the education process. I really think it is true. I learned far more in my undergrad years from other students than I did in the classes (don't tell my profs I said that). And having students from different backgrounds and different countries helped make that experience meaningful.

If a college believes that recruiting students from certain groups will enhance the overall education, I think they should be allowed to offer those scholarships. I don't think it is unfair...the people offering the scholarships ought to be able to choose the criteria they want. Remember, it is still a free country! As long as colleges are independently operated, let's let them remain free.

    Scholarships Based On Ethnicity

That would right up there having a WET - White Entertainment Television - it wouldn't go over very well.

I believe all scholarships should be based on exactly that- scholarship.

They are racist. I am in business and everytime someone hits me up to donate to one of them I tell them I do not support racist causes.
