What's your opinion on the movie "Birth of a Nation" ?

Update:

I found it quite hilairious. Just imagine if that was the the truth. I couldn't stop laughing personally. Its part of my collection for comic value. KKK...heros?

The content of the movie, is racist, no doubt about that, W.D. Griffith, who directed the film, was the son of a KKK member. His father went through the Civil War in the south, so his opinions were shaped by that.

What does stand out, is the fact that he directed, and innovated, much of what we call film making, close ups, dolly shots, story telling, etc. Coloring scenes by hand.

He was a pioneer in the world of film making.

The real tragedy, is that he didn't pick a subject that wouldn't hold up, and was racist from beginning to end.

Totally racist. I don't know much history, but who would believe that the KKK was heroic in it's beginnings?
