Why aren't the Canadians illegally crossing the borders in order to work in America?

I am not being bigoted or nasty with my question. It was just a thought. With so many illegal Mexicans crossing the American border, I just had to wonder why there aren't thousands of Canadians doing the same thing. Maybe it's because life in Canada is better than in Mexico. Or, maybe they are and we don't know about it! Just stirring the pot & seeing what you all think. Time to get on your soapbox and let everyone know what's on your mind. <*)))><

Update:

I'm sorry that you've found my question racial in any way, Real Woman. I've been hearing so much about illegal Mexicans, but nothing about any other illegal people coming across the border. Since network TV is only interested in hot topics, I hadn't heard anything about other things that are happening. So, I thought I would see what others had to say about it and what they've seen or heard...that's what I meant about stirring the pot. I live here, not in Canada. I was hoping that some Canadians would give me some input. Hearing it from the horses' mouth is better than hearing it from the other end! It was NOT my intent to offend. <*)))><

because canadians have it good. their country takes care of their old people. they make good money. and they guard their borders like fort knox. our goverment could learn a lot from them. we have americans buying prescription drugs from there, because the drug companies here rip people off. i bet theres not millions of illegals living there.

Canada is by the world's standards the best place to live on earth. That's why. The US is not BY FAR the best place for a Mexican immigrant, but at least wages rock! I would NEVER EVER think of moving into the US either legally or not. I would find it very upsetting to be constantly reminded of my origins and demaned by a bunch of ignorant rednecks...it's simply too gross to even consider it. Plus, their society sux. They live ON TV, feed ON TV and die ON TV. They're the world's 1st on many subjects: Obessity, Violent deaths, Pollution, Worst food, Lowest education (here I must make a disclaimer: Some American Universities are the WORLD'S BEST; which doesn't mean the people studying there are the best).

I'm sorry but that's a dumb question and the only honest thing about your question was that you wanted to "stir the pot" because you knew it would elicit racist insults toward Mexico. Of course, Canada has a stable government and economy and that's why you don't have the same problem to the north as we do in the south.

Many in the US are so worried about undocumented workers from Mexico who ARE NOT terrorists when we should be shaking to our very core about how porous our border is with Canada.

Because the gain in the rate of pay does not match the risk associated with committing the crime. Also, Canada is a society that operates under the rule of law, whereas Mexico by and large is still a junta.

Because the Canadians realize that America is a fu)ked up place. That and the fact you can actually pay thebills and live off your wages in Canada, unlike Mexico AND America.

  • Canadians make a fine living in Canada. There is no reason that they would need to cross the border to create a beter life for themselves.

There are, and they're ruining it for the rest of us. I'm trying to legally work in the United States, but it seems that every day, more rule and laws are put into place to make my life more difficult. The worst part is, it's easier for an American to come her and work, but near impossible for a Canadian to come to the US and work. Legally.

ARRGGHH! What the hell is the NAFTA agreement for these days? Should I just bend over and take it? GAAAAHHH!

They may well be doing just that. Since they don't seem to be organizing marches and boycotts, we may just not know about them.

However, it probably goes both ways as far as Canada is concerned, and since they speak English (mostly) it wouldn't be as noticeable a strain on public services such as schools.

We shouldn't be getting floods of illegal immigrants from any of our borders. They need to be more secure.

I am a white American girl who lived in Mexico in her teens. I have visited Canada several times. The answer to your question is simple....Mexico IS a third world country..Canada is not. Mexicans are risking their lives to enter this country because Mexico is horrible, violent, unsafe, and the government is corrupt and bribes are standard. My father died there...they say it was an accident...right! It cost us thousands in bribes to get his already cremated body out of the country! They didn't even have our permission to cremate him...wonder what they were covering up? Trust me when I say I would risk my life and the hostile reception in a country that sees me as a criminal to get out of that country!!!

Canadians can find jobs that pay the rent in Canada. They don't need US jobs like the Mexicans do.

Economics is better in canada. I talked to a lady there and wages for those types of jobs undocumented workers usually do are higher. She acted like she wants more mexican workers coming to canada. She was remodeling her house and having trouble getting workers and they were very expensive.
