Any info about thermal ablation of the uterus??

I have recently had very heavy periods that last up to 8 days would thermal ablation be an option? are there any known side effects or adverse events of this method?

Endometrial ablation is a procedure that uses a lighted viewing instrument (hysteroscope) and other instruments to destroy (ablate) the uterine lining, or endometrium. Endometrial ablation can be done by:

    Laser beam (laser thermal ablation).

    Heat (thermal ablation), using:

    Radiofrequency.

A balloon filled with saline solution that has been heated to 85°C (185°F) (thermal balloon ablation).

Electricity, using a resectoscope with a loop or rolling ball electrode.

Its usually a product like a balloon which is inflated inside of your uterus to burn/scar your uterus for lighten your period. There can be issues for fertility after this treatment though. So discuss this with your doctor further.
