history of/how did the practice of men shaving become a part of normal western male daily grooming?

Late 1800's...early 1900's..it was a sign of wealth and cleanliness...in the US anyway..The gentlemen thing.

when everyone got running water and disposable razors. before that men had beards that you cut like a haircut and bathing once a week was considered good personal hygeine.

i went through puberty then noticed hair on my chin and above my lip. i decided it made me look like trash, so i shaved it. that story pretty much applies to everyone.
