Do you think America should isolate themselves from the rest of the world?

Was the days before World War 2, when we did not get involved with problems of other countries preferable to the criticism we get now?

Update:

Because of our isolation from the rest of the world, we left England to fight Germany until almost the end. Was this better?

I am going to touch basis here on a few different thing in addition to answering your question...1) There is a spell checker if you look just above the upper right corner of your comment box...2)some of you who have answered this don't seem to think that the senate and the house are competant...the collective American has already elected these persons, generally we don't learn from our mistakes...and our system isn't perfect so when we hold public elections, there is no guarantee that the new house and the new senate will meet your specifications...the entire nation will never agree on who we elect...3)The Americans advancing on the Germans in WWII has drastically changed everything that you do today...The Americans were for the most part devestated by the Third Reich, with the exception of a few key victories, a homeland attack by the Germans at that time would have been catastrophic to our nation...so appreciate the decision to make that move, it was justly made...4) and now to you question...No, I don't think so, the empathy that is implied by our Nation by "keeping our noses in other's business" shows our integrity...I know that one of the main arguments of OIF is the lack of WMD (weapons of mass destruction), or more specifically, our inability to find any...however our presence there opened our eyes to the abominations that are daily routine in that nation...and you are probably thinking that it has nothing to do with us??? It is similar to if you walked into your neighbors house to see if he was beating his dog and saw that he had killed his baby...pretty effed up, huh? In this instance it is your civil duty to take action... OIF is that same thing in the same context, only on the national level, and it is very necessary...however, yes...before we were a superpower and not able to do the integral thing, we were probably subject to much less criticism...but the bitter truth is that anyone put under the white light is subject to much criticism, whether it is justified or not is a matter of opinion to the rater...hopefully this helps you out with your question...step back and look at the big picture, not just the bottom corner...

There is a line in the Declaration of Independence that basically says, If the elected officials aren't doing the job the should be, it is the responsibility of those who can change it to do so. Another words, IF they(the Americam people) feel they are being run by a bunch of Idiots, which we are, they need to be ousted and new ones elected that would remember that they work for the American People and NOT themselves!!

America should form a committee of sane minds, knowledgeable minds and rework lot of its policies. Particularly all top CIA/NSA brains are to be chopped and sent on early retirement. I guess they have got lot of things confused. If only America follows a saner/fairer foreign policy there is no better country than America. Deviating from the current line will take sometime to settle but they have to start now to make amends otherwise they will be sucked into further unresolvable confusion.

The world is a better place if all the nations work hand in hand for peace and prosperity. USA could be the leader but as a leader, USA should set a good example, and please don't bully the smaller nations because even the most humblest if too heavily pressured, they can create problems to the most strongest.

Well, it's good to see that since the Americans were late for the last two World Wars that they're dead on time for the Third World War.

I think it would be better if the rest of the world isolated themselves from the US.

I couldn't care less about the criticism we get. We left England to rot. That was wrong. We should never do that kind of thing again.

No, this was not better. If it hadn't been for the U.S., all of Europe would be blonde-haired, blue-eyed Germans. Our symbol is the eagle, not the ostrich sticking it's head in the sand and hoping problems go away on their own.

i think we should finish what osama started. then we should continue giving aid to our allies and leave everyone to their own minor problems. i don't say this because i think america is a bad influence, i say it because i'm a proud isolationist. we should be involved economically and diplomatically with other nations, but should not intervene in any conflict unless it is a threat to our nation or to an ally.
