What is a unique gift to give a third grade teacher for an end of the school year present?
I have been a parent volunteer since my oldest started kindergarten in 1984 and have helped with numerous end of the school year parties. My youngest is in 3rd grade and I think my creativity has taken a leave of absence (or just too tired). I am just not coming up with any ideas for a teacher present this year. What are some good teacher gifts that you can think of? Some of the things I have done in the past are gift certificates to restaurants, teacher stores, sporting events, book stores; fabric painted sweatshirts, tote bags, aprons with kids' names and handprints; flowers, plants, and trees; one year I did a summer survival kit with sunscreen, a book, a sun hat, etc, in a styrafoam cooler. All of these are thoughtful gifts and appreciated by teachers. Does anyone have other suggestions for truly unique gift ideas? Thanks!

I am a teacher and by far the nicest suggestion is a book with notes from the kids. You have certainly given wonderful presents in the past too. But no one can ever give the gift of real appreciation. I have many mugs, t-shirts, plants etc but the gifts I treasure and that I take out when I need a lift are notes from my students and a well worn little book given to me by a class over 22 years ago. I love all my gifts and feel grateful that people have taken time to select and give a gift when we are all so busy so I am sure anything would be fine...but a little book of notes from the kids...a priceless jewel!

Depending on the teacher's personal hobbies:
1. A gardening bag filled with gardening tools, seeds, gloves, gardening hat, etc.
2. A beach bag filled with beach gear.
3. Gift certificate for a day at the spa.
4. Have all the kids write a short note or 3 things they love most about the teacher, and put all the pages in an album.
5. Gift certificate to www.amazon.com

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.
According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv/ and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

I am an elemenatary teacher and my favorite gifts have been anything other than coffee mugs and bath gel! The gifts I remember the most had all the kids' names on it, like a giant flower with each child's name on a petal. An azalea that gives beautiful blossoms each spring and reminds me that I help children blossom too. I am always greatful for my Starbucks gift certificates too. They are a great way to be ready in on a morning I would much rather be sleeping. Whatever you come up with, do know that the teacher appreciates very, very much and keeps them coming back day after day, year after year. After all, we're not there for the pay, but for the payoff we get from being with kids!

My wife is a second grade teacher, and gift cards are the definate way to go. Especially if the whole class gets together and buys a large gift card to a store you know the teacher likes. If you don't know a store the teacher likes, try an American Express gift card, or one to a local mall that can be used in different stores.
Gift cards are always the right color. ;)
(If you don't give them a gift card, then give them nothing with apples on it! They already have a houseful of apple crap!)

it's obvious that you have give so many excellent presents in the past.. I don't think you'll receive any new ideas here , honestly it was YOU who gave us all nice ideas about teacher's presents..
but'll try to suggest something , it might help
try making a cake , cook it your self , or buy it and write something nice on it , you might ask your daughter what she would like to say to her teacher and right it on the cake
