Each year, the April issue of Consumer Reports reviews new and used cars. They list the most dependable used cars by price. The information is available online if you are registered or you can see the magazine for free at your public library.

An old GM car like a early to mid 1990's Buick Century or Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera with a V6 engine. You can get these cars fairly cheap with decent mileage, and the reliability is great. I heard these cars get beat to hell, and they still hold up well. I don't know much about Toyotas or Hondas, but they can also be good too. I don't know what type of vehicle make you prefer, but i personally like to stay away from Ford, and Chrysler products. It is because they seem to not hold up well like the other makes. If you are researching a vehicle, i suggest going to www.carsurvey.org. This website is a excellent source for checking out the reviews of the vehicles you are researching. Possibly a better source than Consumer Reports. I read a review on that website about a guy who bought a new Chevy Caprice back in 1978, and was still driving it at 2001 with over 744,000 miles on it. Good Luck with your search!

I'm a 16-year-old guy, and I personally like the new Nissan Altima. It'll run you about $15,000 but it looks like a $30,000 car.
If I had my say in what my first car would be, it'd be the Nissan Altima. Unfortunately I'm stuck with a 1995 Toyota Corolla.

An old beat up used car. 16-18 year old drivers are inexperience and are more likely to crash than older drivers.

Go to the army auction. You can buy old 80-89 chevy and gmc trucks and blazers with low miles and well kept. They all have diesels so are slow. And everyone of em can take a heck of a beating.
