Not always, but usually. Even if the education level is about the same, private schools usually have smaller classes and therefore each student gets more personal time to bring out their best.

Also, since most private schools have some sort of uniform, there is not a lot of time and effort put into raging hormones. It allows more concentration on the things that matter in school - learning.

You will also usually find that more parents are involved in the school life in private schools, and they usually have more resources to augment the education.

The easiest way to tell is to ask what percentage of their graduates are accepted at university, and how their graduates average in the SAT (or your local equivalent) exams.

There are no absolutes in life. There are some private schools that are poorly run, and there are some public schools that do a fine job of educating their students.

As a rule, you will find that a private school has more flexibility, and they do care more about the progress of the students. You also will find that parental involvement will be higher in the private schools. Parents who are paying (actually paying twice because they still are taxed to support the public schools) want value for their money.

A lot of people think that it is better to go to a private school, because of the stricter rules, and uniforms and better curriculum and a lot of other excuses. But I go to public school, and I like it just fine. I think you learn more in public school because there is more diversity in several ways. In a private school you usually have kids in uniform, sometimes only girl only or boy only, sometimes one religion, and only one or two different races. In private school you don't get to interact with classmates very much, because most of the time you are too busy becoming smart aleccy bookworms and anti-social. Not to say I have anything against people going to private schools, they are lucky because they don't have so many people and a closer "inner circle", but they ARE kind of, slightly, stuck-up, but they can't really help it. This is just my opinion, but I think that public school is better than private school, but that is just me.

No. While class sizes tend to be smaller, there are some downsides. Some are so constricting for students that they end up feeling like there is no escape and make mistakes that there parents intended not to happen by putting them there. Example: At a local private school nearby, the instances of drug abuse and pregnancy are higher than the local public schools.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It honestly depends on your school system. Does the child get one on one time with the teacher? Or are there 30 other kids in the class? Then again, smaller classes aren't always better because everybody knows everybody else's business and sometimes that isn't fun. That's what my family is going through now. We live in a very small community where everybody knows everybody. (There's only about 150 kids or so total in the high school!) And my sisters and brothers are having a tough time because my 16 year old sister just had a baby so everybody is making fun of her. It's a toss-up.

Usually. Since there is a customer who can take their business elsewhere, they have to deliver a better product.

Not necessarily, but it is a lot more expensive (I mean, duh, but still). It depends on the two schools being considered, I guess.
