About Da Vinci Code , Should we shout to re-correct the lies by banning the book or movie?

Because people try to ban them by to make more publicly that may cause people to be curious likely by taking a look at the book or movie. I know Jude in the bible tells us to defend the Faith against the false teachers....do we , the christians, have to do something to defend God's name against the book because they used Jesus in the vain through the book and movie that lead so many people to fall away from the faith... its dangerous but is it a right role for us to ban them in our attitudes? just share your opinions. For me, I think we should defend our Faiths and bible by giving our voices only to correct the lies if people seek the wrong messages.

Update:

I know the book is just a fictional , but did they do right by using Jesus' name in vain.. and i learnt that two millions think its religious ...maybe more numbers grow daily....we do nothing about it?

Update 2:

jlowes12345

Good point... let them see a movie to drive them to seek the truth, by questioning about Jesus.. ummm maybe it may help...Let God do His work in the mystery way....but we still stand on the Truth

DAVINCI PEOPLE NEW RELIGION INSTEAD CHRISTIANITY

Now most people turning their faith to the DaVinci code rather than the "LIE IN THE CHRISTIANITY". That is what they said. Most of them think with their plain brain and found that the DaVinci code is really turn to logic and not like the god fairy tale. Nobody believe that god turn to become a baby and died to save our sin. THE DAVINCI CODE revealed that Jesus Christ IS NOT A GOD ANYMORE. It is really breaking the LIE BEHIND christianity. What should i say, the logical turn to DaVinci. We have brain to choose.

Look, people are gonna believe what they believe. I don't encourage anyone who is questioning their faith to read the book or watch the movie. The book is FICTIONAL, but, the author does a REAL good job of weaving fact and fiction together, so it's kind of a mystery. maybe all the things have some truth, but it's all egsaggerated or something. I don't know. To me, it's just a really good read, and I'm thinking the movie would be good too. I think people should make their own opinions after reading the book. I just hope it doesn't ruin or change people's faith in Christ. I do reliz why Catholics fear this book and movie, but sheltering people from things only makes them want to know what it is they're being sheilded from. If u don't talk about it, and let it be, maybe ur followers won't look at the forbidden fruit, and want to taste it. Did the church ever look at it that way?. I mean, wanting to see and taste what is forbidden has been around since Adam and Eve...hasn't the church learned anything? Some will listen to the church, and some will wonder why the rules are the way they are. It's just human nature, and it can't be stopped.

Through the Da Vinci code people are talking about Jesus. How could that be a bad thing from a Christians perspective? Its an opportunity not a work of the Devil! Nobody who truly believes in God will fall away from this. If someone is truly troubled they'll do some research, find out the book is amazingly historically inaccurate and get over it. I dont believe this book is in any way a danger. It probably contains greater opportunity to talk about Jesus than the Passion of the Christ because it is more popular in the real world.

People have the right to freedom of speech. If you start banning one book for some dumb reason, than you should ban them all. I'm sure even the bible has people who want it out of print, but that doesn't mean that you can do that. People have all kinds of interest. You can go to the library and read a book on how to build bombs. That doesn't mean that you are going to do that. Just that you can, and you have that option if you want.

Somebody wrote The Da Vinci Code. Created a story by mixing faith religion, and fiction. I don't believe you should want to change it. If you don't like it, than don't go see it. And by the way, it doesn't matter what I say, because you won't choose best answer for anybody who doesn't say what you want to hear. I didn't care for the Passion, but I didn't want it banned from the theaters. I just accepted the fact that there is a more diverse world out there, and that some people are interested in that. You should be more open minded. Defend your faith, yes. But put somebody else down who is protected by the constitution, no.

What are the lies? Sounds like you don't know what you're talking about:

People who have absolutely no idea will scream, "LIES" without even reading the book or investigating the history behind it. From what I was able to find, here is what's true and what's not:

    - Gnostic Gospels: True, except the text in the Gospel of Mary Magdaline where is says, "Jesus kissed Mary on the lips" is actually, "Jesus kissed Mary on the (hole in parchment)". Brown took a liberty here. Also, there are several references in the Gnostic gospels as well as the bible itself that refer to Jesus "favoring" Mary Mag but they don't go into detail...leaving room for speculation.

    - Priory of Sion: A real org., however every bit of information about links it to one of 3 men in the 1950s, and there's no information or reference of the org before that. It's thought to be a hoax.

    - Myth of Jesus's Family: The book is correct that Mary Mag was not a prostitute. The bible makes absolutely no reference to that at all. As for the legend of Mary Mag fleeing to France, the only evidence that I know of is a reference in a 15th century book, and an old French myth. Supposedly she had a daughter named Sara, which in Hebrew means Princess. So, the conclusion could be reached that she was the child of Jesus, but its a bit of a stretch.

Da Vinci: Some agree 100% that Mary Mag is in the painting of the last supper. Several art historians claim that during the Rennesaunce (spelling) John was often painted feminine.

Constantine: This was about 80% true from my research. Yes, Constantine formed the Christian religon as it is now (more or less). History is a little fuzzy though as to how much involvement he had choosing which books to include in the bible (some say it was him alone, some say it was several people over several years). However, he DID remove all other religions claiming to follow another messiah, and shape the Christian religion the way he wanted it and make it mainstream. Whether that's following God's influence or a personal agenda, you decide.

Over all, as for the history and theory part of the book I'd say its about 50% fact, 40% legend-theory-assumption, and 10% false. Dan Brown even admits that, "the opinions in the book are conclusions drawn by the characters". He is himself a Christian.

Now...isn't that better than an angry Christian screaming "LIES" when they don't have a clue what they're talking about?

How is the book using jesus' name in vain? did the characters keep saying "Dear Jesus" every other line? No. All it talked about is about Jesus marrying and having kids. It is just a fictional book and not blasphemous as some "Christians" say it is.

If you don't like the book, don't read it. If you don't like the movie, don't watch it. That is the best form of protests you can do.

The book is just a "what if" book. It just plays upon the what if scenerio that many people have often wondered. That doesn't mean that Jesus' name is being taken in vain. they are just talking about him, not putting him down or condemning him.

"Christians" should just lighten up and realize that this is just fiction and nothing more. There are more important things to worry about than what a movie/book talks about.

No. If people seek the wrong message, then they are ignorant. The book and movie are works of fiction. They shouldnt be taken literally by anyone. They shouldnt be banned for lying, because essentially, thats what fiction is, lies. If people fall away from their faith because of the movie or book then they were very weak in their relationship with jesus christ to begin with. Or, they never really had a relationship at all. That is just my opinion.

Banning books and making people believe your way is really not the point in my opinion.

If someone wants to believe that Jesus and Mary were married, does it really matter?

I don't think that the book or movie are dangerous - they're fiction. Some thought that The Passion of the Christ was dangerous also.....

I uphold your right to not like or see the movie, to not read the book, and to not believe that Jesus and Mary were married.

But, I expect the right to enjoy the movie and the book and to believe whatever I want about them.

My personal view is that they may have been and they may not have been, but it really doesn't matter. It doesn't change his message one bit.

Dan Brown said it's fiction. I'd say it's more fantasy. There are so many mistakes with Dan's "Duh-Vinci Code" I wouldn't even give it a second thought. But there are some of you out there who are so theologically lame that you'll believe anything, even this book and movie. Instead of banning anything, learn the "real truth", which, by the way, can be found in the teachings of the Catholic church.

Sure. Go ahead. Ban the lot. Isn't that what the vatican does anyway when their dominion is questioned ?

Hmmm, yet there are folks out there, myself included who believe that the most dangerous book in the world is the bible, full of lies hypocracy bloodshed jealousy sexism and that's just God.... then look at the cult that has been spawned from this book. Killing all round them. It disgusts me. People aren't falling away from xianity because of DaVinci code, they're falling away from it because they're seeing it for what it really is. Blackmail and extortion.

I think most people are smart enough to know that it's fictional ... but there is that segment of society that will take it more seriously than it deserves to be taken.

Banning films such as this is not the answer, not to mention it goes against free speech.

But I don't blame anyone who calls for a boycott on this film -- it's up to each person if they want to take part in the boycott or not.

A good friend of mine is going to see it tomorrow night. I am not planning on seeing it at all. It's no big deal; the two of us are still friends and still will be.
