I do know my IQ. My own tested IQ changed about 23 points in about four years when I was growing up, which experts say isn't really supposed to happen.

I now work in education, especially in the area of assessments and qualifying students for Special Education. I would agree that the IQ concept of intelligence is limited and often misused.

Federal guidelines and best practices require us to look at a variety of assessments, as well as get input from the family and teachers before making important educational decisions.

I've taken a few IQ tests, and have had scores ranging from 150 to 192, which indicates that I'm a freakin' genius.

However, I think the tests are very misused. If I have an IQ of 192, does that mean I'm more likely to succeed? Certainly not. The IQ tests that I have taken don't accurately test total knowledge or total learning ability. Explain to me why my friend with an IQ of 80 is an excellent auto mechanic, but I can hardly change my own oil. He has an outstanding functional knowledge that I lack.

Some people put too much stock in IQ's and educational level. Dave Thomas dropped out of school after 8th grade and went on to build the Wendy's fast food empire. Bill Gates is a college dropout. Okay, he did drop out of Harvard, but you get my point.

I forget what my IQ is, but it really isn't important.

Let me put it this way: A test designed by a human being cannot perfectly test the intelligence of another human being.

    The reason?

To have a true measurement of one's intelligence, you would need a test that measures every aspect of intelligence completely.

Intelligence is not math or science or reading or any other single skill. Intelligence encompasses all of these things and more.

Too many people think that by taking a "sample" of one's intelligence, you can estimate the amount of one's entire intelligence. This is simply not true. After all, the test-makers are the ones deciding what is a proper representation of each subject.

In other words, the results of IQ tests are unreliable at best.

To throw this in: Tests like the SAT are merely IQ tests as well. But at least they tell you what they're specifically trying to measure.

    I'm done here.

I don't know my IQ but I don't think Im stupid either. I am currently enrolled in college courses and maintaining a 3.21 GPA, plus I'm 30, married with 3 kids, and I have head trauma from a car accident. So my basic response would be the concept of IQ is really misused. When you apply for a job they ask what your GPA is not your IQ.

    How To Know Ur Iq

  • 2 decades ago

well, in second grade, my IQ was supposedly 109, in 5th grade it was 136, freshman year was 120, and i just took an unofficial one (im a senior in high school now) and it said i had a 133. something tells me that it shouldnt change nearly that much. basically, the IQ test is just like any other...it only tests what you know on any particular day. so many variables go into it, its usually not very accurate.

  • I know my IQ. I think it is very helpful to know your IQ. It actually boosted my confidence level tremendously to take the test and find out that I'm not as unintelligent as I might have been perceived to be.

Here comes the whiney black playing the affirmative action and race card. Yo yo yo. <-----intelligence

EDIT: and don't give me this idiocy about the IQ being based around "western European" learning - the asians just keep making the black look worse and worse.

126- but I don't think I'll qualify for Mensa, As with all test which are based in Western European learning it can be limited to certain groups who haven't experienced that type of learning. so yes I think it is limited-culturally.
