was the da vinci code a good movie? is it worth $9 to go see?
ok, i've read the book. i don't need any information about the theories presented in the movie, and i already have my beliefs all straightened out. this isn't a question for religious debate.

I bought 1/2 price matinee tickets for me and 3 friends. They bought the popcorn and soda. I was the only one who read the book first. Everyone loved it.
The movie was very close to the book, but the reading the book first is a good idea, because it's a complicated mystery and requires you to think a bit.
I'd say the professional movie critics didn't like it because it was a cerebral, intellectual movie as opposed to a slam-bang, shoot 'em up, fireworks and explosions, SFX kind of movie. It isn't a WOW! LOOK AT THAT! kind of movie, but it is definitely a WOW!
The dialogue definitely stabs the Catholic Church right between the eyes and this is another reason why many people have a problem with it.
Enjoy the mystery, the chase, the plot and the shocking surprises, one right after another. I would definitely pay to see it again, but only for the purpose of entertaining a friend who hasn't seen it.

I did not read the book first since the book is always better than the movie and there would be no point to go see the film. So I watched the movie first, and I liked it. Even if you do not know what the hell is going on and dont care about the theories and what not, it was a good movie to go see. To me it was interesting and there was no part that left me bored. Worth the 9 bucks plus a coke and popcorn.

I went to see it Friday night and I very much enjoyed it.
If you have read the book then you won't be disappointed. It followed Dan Brown's version pretty good 75% of the movie. Then there is a little twist. I think you would enjoy it. There were mixed reviews and reading the posts here you will find that very apparent.
I don't think it should have received the bad press from all the religious groups. It is a conspiracy theory and the people who watch this movie should take it as such. Go see it and make up your own mind!!

Actually this is the first time I've seen a movie be so accurate to the book. If you enjoyed the book, you will enjoy the movie and it is worth the nine pesos to see it.
I notice people saying Tom Hanks was bad and I disagree Tom hanks was good in the role of PLaying a dull person, the Character he played is dull and boring, you'd get that if you read the book.

I saw this movie last night with 2 other people who read the book. All of us enjoyed the movie very much, and were of the opinion that it did not attempt to dumb itself down for the Hollywood crowd. It is of my opinion that the only real reason it is getting lousy reviews is because Hollywood is a very secular entity and inherently rejects movies centered around theology and Faith. I.E. The Passion of the Christ. That is besides the point though. If you enjoyed the book and enjoy intellectual thrillers then definitly go and see this movie. It was very entertaining.

I haven't seen it yet. My friends have though. Its 2 1/2 hours long and If you didn't read the book you might be lost with the movie. I heard its really similiar to the book they didn't take out or add on anything else besides what was written in the book.

I hated the book, but the cast (aside from Tom Hanks) is stellar. My big problem is that Ron Howard does great films that are very straightforward. He isn't a great director when there is any mystery or action. I think the film isn't going to be worth watching. Once it gets released on DVD your local library will get it and you can check it out for free. I'm going to do that.

i think your probably set with the book. I havent read it but the movie seems like a waste of time if u have. Theres a lot of talk in the movie and not a lot of action. Your not missing out on much

I preferred the book even when the movie wasn't bad. Anyway if you find it helpful the movie was very similar to the book just a little slow.
