why is it that jesus was this huge icon but now adays...?

Just logic. Science has answered so many things about the world that religion hasn't been able to.

There is no need for religion or "Jesuses" anymore.

It has to do with:

a.Jesus is not presently walking around and preaching on this planet; &

b. The records of Jesus sayings, the "Q Document", have never been found; &

c. Language changes over time and translations. The modern Bible does NOT reflect what really happened and was said in the Gospels. 2,000 years have gone past, and information gets watered down like making copies of copies on a Xerox copy machine.

Philosophers have reclaimed the Greeks as their proto-resource for ultimate wisdom about the universe, and abandoned the Catholic church. But more importantly, we entered a period of materialism, whereby our society governs itself by the belief in habeas corpus - in other words, if there is no evidence, then there is no issue. It's all about what we can prove. This central philosophy has spread to many other disciplines, from science to computers to sociology and law. And as for Jesus... the whole story possesses absolutely no solid evidence, and in fact has been caught changing its story too many times.

It is a matter of faith. If someone tells me that he is the son of God tomorrow, I will assume he is either one evil person or crazy as hell.

Most of this country holds the Judeo-Christian belief to some extent. (most at least believe in a dualistic belief system) So if someone says the things that he said, most will assume he is crazy.

Then there is the 'progressive' movement of the past 40 years... or as I refer to it the less than holy trinity: me, myself and I, since that is what most of the progressives will preach as the most important thing in the world. They see someone like Jesus as a wackjob, since that person is basically saying that you are not the star in this story, that God is.

It is because Most people who preach along the same lines don't walk around claiming to be the Son of God, and ya know He really wasnt all that well liked when He was alive anyway.

If you noticed, its been ages singe God has come down and spoke with anyone. In the old days, he was talkin to every John, Job and Moses. Now if anyone says God told them to do it, they end up on the Mad House!

because those "physchos" push their beliefs on others.If you have a religion it is your choice to follow it.Im catholic but i dont preach.Those people that stand in the street are annoying and scary.They are trying to force people into their way of life which they are trying to be controlling.What they believe so should everyone else.Thats whats scary.People forcing their beliefs on you.

Dont cha know Jesus Is our God??? like the muslims, they call Jesus and the Almighty God Allah..Allah is still Jesus you know.
