How can I give my cat her worm pills without traumatizing her?
I hate holding her mouth open, and every time I put the pill in the back of her mouth she just works it back out. It takes about 5 times to get her to swallow it, and then I have to give her one more! With my dog I stick the pills in peanut butter, but I don't know what will work with a cat. She chews before she swallows, unlike the goofy dog.

You could crush them up in her food if you're sure she's the only one who will get into the food. Likewise, you could crush them up in a saucer of milk.
You could also try dipping one end of the pill in butter and then putting that into her mouth. She's far more likely to let that one slide down. You could try Cheeze Whiz too if she likes cheese.
You could also try hiding the pill in a piece of cooked chicken if she likes chicken.
You could buy some empty gel caps at a health food store (1000 are about $3) and put the pill into the gel cap to hide the taste and then dip one end in butter and she'll take it very easily.
There are also some treats in which you can hide a pill. Look at http://www.pillpockets.com/ You can buy them for about $8 at any Petsmart and many other pet stores also carrying them.
You could buy a pill pusher at a pet food store or online too. They make it a bit easier as they are long sticks with a plunger on the end.
As you might be able to tell, I'm an old hand at finding creative ways to pill cats! Dogs are so much easier as they'll eat anything. But cats can be tricked. I managed to trick my 19.5 year old with Pill Pockets. He loves them and now pill time is fun for both of us. Good luck!

This might help....if you get some moist cat treats and stuff the pill in there or try wet cat food. I don't think peanut butter will work for a cat like it does for a dog.

Dont use worm pills. My cat is really traumatized by pills as well and I cant hide it in ANY kind of food. You know the paste that goes on their paw? My cats answer to that was to run wildy about the house spreading it EVERYWHERE and NEVER licked it up! In Australia we have this wonderful stuff called Revolution. Its a dot that goes on their neck, it treats all the nasty worms plus fleas, plus flea allergy! I swear by it, so do all three of my puddies! They dont like it, but its far better than shoving pills down their throat!

I know this may be hard but you have to put the pill down their throat. Its not cruel or inhumane in any way. Your cat will not resent you or even be traumatized by this. Their minds don't work that way. After you give her the pill scratch her and give her a treat or whatever you do to praise her. When she's done with her treats she won't remember the pills.

Open her mouth. Place the pill back as far as you can and then hold her mouth closed. Then...you tap her nose with your finger till she swallows. I was told to do this by a vet once with one of my cats once and it worked....1st try. Then...just give her attention and a treat after.
Good luck!

Revolution is awesome stuff, goes on same as frontline and does fleas aswell.Or wrap cat up in towel so all it's paws are away from you and literaly drop it at back of throat and rub its neck to make it swallow.

I always have the best luck if I crush up the pull and put it in my cats favorite moist food. They eat that stuff right up and have no idea they just took they're meds with it!
Good luck!!!!

best way is to give her some chicken and hide it in that. or you could crush up the pill and mix it in with canned food. this works for me.
