Somebody on this cottonpicken planet has got to know the answer?

Somebody out there has got to know the true story behind the naming of Ticklenaked Pond near Wells River, Vermont. The one who gives me the legitimate answer, gets the 10 points.

Ticklenaked pond, Ryegate. Name is thought to stem from attempts to Anglicize an Indian name whose meaning is lost.

Your question was 8 years ago ... but still ... "Various explanations for this odd and humorous name have been offered; the late Dr. John C. Huden, who spent most of his life studying place-names derived from Indian words, said it may be a modified Delaware Indian word meaning "beaver kittens here."

The person that first discovered it found it by mistake when being tickled naked!
