Steroid cream (eg.hydrocortisone cream, eumovate, betamethasone cream) might help to alleviate the condition, but remember do not goes to the strongest dose as it might have side effect, and do not use it for prolonged period. However steroid cream is useful against inflammation and itchiness.

Besides that, you can also try antihistamine oral drugs. It helps to stop itchiness. Ask pharmacy about the Chlorpheniramine maleate (a type of antihistamine drugs), it is quite safe to use it without serious side effect as sometimes it is prescribed even by woman with pregnancy.

i'm having the same problem right now.

i use a moisturizing body wash.. follow it with an in shower lotion. make sure to avoid hot showers - that makes it worse. dermarest makes an eczema medicated lotion - it should be with the 'other' lotions in the drug store - it helps a lot - just make sure you haven't scratched recently or it burns like hellfire.

your doc can also give you steriods and that helps - i'm not sure how - but it did last year when i had a BAD break out.
